I got this game and wondered why I couldn't jump past the really big hole in 1-1. As it turns out, I discovered in a YouTube playthrough I needed to kick the stump in order for a platform to appear. Argh. There is no mention of doing crap like this in the manual. I read the manual, hoping there was a super jump I was missing perhaps. No. Then I got as far as 2-1 before the impossible part. Timing and jumping on a thing that bounces up and down beside a ledge at the end of a hole? Really? And they expect people to pass that? Well, I guess I can consider beating 1-4 the end of the game for me. Not a really big game, though. So how do I describe this to people who don't know? It's basically Wonder Boy meets Scrapyard Dog. There are hidden things to get and discover like Super Mario Bros., as well. (Similar to Scrapyard Dog). I played the thing for a few hours. Getting a Game Over is long and tedious, and there's no reset switch on the TurboGrafx 16 so I just turn it off and back on again because I don't want to sit through green letters spelling "GAME OVER" rising at the slowest possible rate. But man this game is hard. And activating the platforms are hard (there are two more spots to do this before 2-1, and both are very hard to activate. There are lampposts to kick for extra lives as well, but the lampposts have to be almost off the screen to the left, and not every lamppost does this. Beating the big burly man at the end of 1-4, you just need to kick him repeatedly and jump on him before he gets a chance to throw two big boulders at you. 4 attacks I think kills him off. If not for the impossible part in 2-1, I would have liked this game. TurboGrafx-16 needed a Game Genie. Really bad.
