Some minor annoyances

Haven't you noticed that half the topics in the 2600 forum could have been avoided if people used the search function? :? That's the beauty of the internet though. Everyone wants to think that they are/were the first person to post about something, although they're actually one of the other 999,999 people to do so.Just an observation.

I haven't perused the 2600 forums for a long while, but SpiceWare is correct. There are often questions which are re-asked multiple times (even if there is a FAQ or sticky etc), and re-ocurring topics and themes. (I've stopped reading the wish-list topics on the 7800 forums. Not worth my time.)

Anyway, leading reasons for repeated questions:

1. Newbie who probably hasn't even lurked in the forum who jumps in with their question.

2. Those too lazy to search.

3. Those who search but can't find what they are looking for either because they can't find the right words to either find something or get a reasonable number of results.

4. It's something which you wouldn't think would have been seen before.

The problem is people keep answering them rather than pointing them at the previous answers. FAQs also have a habit of getting out of date.

plus search doesn't always help. As an example, I went searching for DASM MAC OS X and got

One or all of your search keywords were below 4 characters or you are searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please go back and increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords.
which wasn't very useful ;)

Thanks for replying folks. I thought I was the only one who noticed all of this.

It's still great to see more people getting into Atari. That's the upside to all the stupid questions. If people stick around after those questions are answered, then you know you've hooked them for life. :)
