HAD A LOT OF FUN at the show this past weekend. Well, this past Saturday, anyway; I wasn't able to make it on Sunday.David Galloway (djmips) and I had a table (graciously donated by NWCGE) and, between the two of us, we had two 2600s, a Vectrex (first time I'd ever seen one; that thing is really cool!), my AtariVox, my MemCard, a bunch of homebrews (all of ours plus Hunchy II, Thrust+, Jammed, and...that might be it), and a Cuttle Cart that we used to load up a bunch of my demos and David's Football game (which was a big hit).Al also, very kindly, sent us a bunch of stuff to sell/display at the last minute, while I was there we sold 2 copies of Go Fish! and a copy of Boing! 2600 2.0; David burned a bunch of copies of Football Saturday night and I believe he sold all of them that he made.Had a few early glitches Saturday morning - got there at 10:30, expecting David to be there already. But he wasn't there! He was going to bring powerstrips, extension cords, etc., so I (foolishly) didn't bring those things. Had a tense hour or two while I rustled up a powerstrip, tried to get a hold of David, and generally panicked since we were supposed to give a keynote address at ~2 and I wasn't prepared to really say anything!But David did show up at about noon, and everything went well. Our keynote address was fun; we spent about an hour talking about homebrewing, using the demos I brought as visual aids. I also was able to pick up a Pitfall II and Solaris :lust: and a keyboard controller, plus TJ's hack of IXION, ATRIX, which has been fun to play.Other highlights:Seeing Combat on a giant TV at Packrat VG's booth and thinking nothing of it until maybe an hour later, when somebody was playing it, I realized it was actually Combat Rock, Paul's hack.Playing Typing of the Dead at the booth next to us.Playing the Japanese, original version of SMB 2 (Goki Goki Panic or something?) on a Famicom.Explaining to Rebecca that, yes, those were indeed 2600 porn games for sale at one of the booths. :D:)EDIT: Here are the (sadly) few pics I took at the show on Saturday right before I left at the end of the day.Here's our table, missing my 4-switch (I just packed it up before remembering to get some pictures). Unseen to the left is the Vectrex. I would have enjoyed hearing that. How did the audience react? Were most of them aware of homebrewing already?

The audience seemed pretty interested; thought it was kinda cool. There weren't a ton of questions, so I dunno.

 

I think probably most of them were aware of homebrews already, since ATRIX was on sale at the show and PVG had a big booth prominently displaying lots of homebrews and hacks.

 

I really would have liked to hear Joe Decuir's presentation on Sunday, maybe David can fill us in. :)

I had a great time as well. I apologize again for showing late on Saturday morning, I had stayed up all night trying to figure out how to print out cartridge labels and eventually gave up because my printer dropped a colour. I just could not wake that morn :)

 

Stayed up (but not as late) on Saturday night with various tech snags and eventually burned and assembled 10 Football carts by late late evening with the help of the many of the NWCGE members and vendors like Lee, Hans, Rick and Nate. Johan also pitched in. Also thanks to Al for getting us the boards and blank carts!!!

 

Sunday, I returned with my kids and we had a good day running the table, checking out the other tables and playing video games.

 

Joe Decuir's talk was very enjoyable, technical, historic, humourous and I think someone videotaped it...

 

I did sell all the Football carts (without labels). I will now have to send out labels in about a week.

 

EDIT - I should also point out that vdub_Bob also recieved a Starpath Supercharger at the show. A gift from me as a token of thanks for helping out on the Football game and for covering me at the start on Saturday... Also as an ulterior motive, it should help him test out kernels on real hardware and possibly give some incentive towards making a SuperCharger game...

 

I also picked up a couple of keypad controllers and a light gun. I forgot to try and get a trackball.

 

I really enjoyed the competition on Sunday. The frogs and flies showdown was hilarious and the finals included a multi round comeback in boxing on the BIG screen.

I was a little panicky, but it was no big deal in the end that you were late. :)

 

David, are you going to release the Football ROM? And I did see a boxed trackball in a booth in the center, no price though and I didn't have a chance to ask. Also saw a SMS lightgun that I almost picked up.

 

EDIT: Yeah, I didn't mention it, but thanks for the SC (and game!). I was very surprised when you told me that you got it for me; now I'm excited to check it out.

I sold several more of Boing 2.0, Go Fish! and a Minigame cart.

 

I wasn't planning on making any more Football carts for sale, but yes we should release the rom at some point yes?

I think we should sell them in the AA Store with a spiffy label and maybe a manual. :)

I'm hoping to see some pictures also. I've never been to Seattle, but would like to visit someday. The furthest north I've been on that side of the US is Portland. ;)

Seattle is like Portland, except it's colder, it rains more, and the traffic is worse :)

 

I'm from Seattle too, and make a trip up there a few times a year, but last weekend wasn't one of them ;) Damn obligations getting in the way :D

Doki Doki Panic. And sadly, it sucks compared to SMB2.

 

It was cool that I happened to be coming home that weekend and was able to go. Nothing says "you're home for the weekend" like a huge collection of nerds!

 

It was also nice to hear Fanfare for the Common Man in action. :)

Well, it's been raining nicely all day here today, so it's a little like Seattle. But I miss the real thing.

 

How were the crowds? Any idea how many people attended?
