Playing around with Game Gear programming

So I thought to myself, "Man, I haven't programmed the Game Gear in quite some time." Sure enough, it had been a month and a half since I last finished the "Bananas Are Good" game, and before that little update, about another month. So I need to keep all the video game consoles I can program in check and actually program them once in a while, even if nothing comes out of the little programs I create. This time, I decided to take the banana from the box of Corn Flakes With Bananas picture I had found and put that in there. As it turned out, I had to severely butcher the picture and cut out a lot of stuff to make the banana show up. I thought the Game Gear was capable of showing a lot more stuff than this, and it probably could if I use some sprites. I think I'll just keep this as a title screen. I slept all day today, I don't know what my problem is and why I suddenly got really really sleepy all the time. And then I fall asleep and dream weird dreams that make no sense. I composed a little title screen song to go with the picture. I used my Everdrive to check if it works on real hardware. It does. I think I'll make a game out of this. Sort of like a Chip's Challenge-type game where you go around the screen trying to get bananas. I think the Game Gear needs a game like that. Pengo and Slider just don't quite cut it for me. The challenge will be to shrink the banana on the title screen with his hat and stuff down to 8x8. Or perhaps I will just make another sprite altogether that resembles that. So anyway, besides sleeping, this is what I have to show for today.blogentry-9475-0-75933600-1457424582.png
