My Colecovision died. Well, part of it did. The sound part. As a result, all Colecovision games I try to put in are muted. I tried opening the console up and fiddling around with capacitors, trying to make them straight, but nothing helped. Even banging on the unit which helped before, has quit working. I guess I just can't have nice things. So what should I do with it? Continue playing it with no sound, or admit defeat and toss it? I would really like to have someone fix it, but I don't know who. Yurkie seems okay, but I haven't seen him in a while. His latest status update mentions Finding Dory, which doesn't seem to be popular any more. I really would like to play it, but geez the thing is huge. It would probably take $30 just to ship it somewhere. All I want is the sound back. I don't really care about the BIOS mod or any fancy flashing lights. I just want sound. Argh!

Replacing the SN76489 sounds like a good option after testing its output pin.

I hope you can find someone nearby that can do these simple electronics repair.
