Actually, Nintendo was not expecting so many people would buy NES Classic mini.

 

Plug n' Play systems are not that popular in general.

I suppose the demand will decline now that the first reviews are out:

 

- input and output delays (especially sound, up to 10 frames and more)

- varying slowdowns (much different to original hardware)

 

That's probably OK for most casual gamers, but not good enough for those who expect faithful emulation.

Funny that you should bring that up...
