Homebrews not currently in development, but not completely dead, either:

  • 2600 Toolbox (tentative title)
Description: At some point, I need to make a Stupid Game Ideas! entry for this. The idea is to vastly expand upon the idea of the Test Cart, including color calibration patterns, hardware tests, sound tests, and various patterns for checking color combinations, flickering, and so forth. The cart can be used to test consoles, set up TVs, and be used by homebrewers and artists while developing new games.
Development status: I have a list of things I'd like to see in it, I just need to write it all up, then hope a developer finds it interesting enough to pursue. ;)

Inactive Homebrew projects:

  • BurgerTime Arcade (was "Fun With Sawdust")*
    Game graphics: Early development.
    Development status: Early development.
    3-2-18: Added to homebrew list.

More homebreviews. I need to start slogging through a huge backlog of games.
  • ArcadeCinema.net
Update old MacMAME.net video game movie reviews and redesign website.
  • 2600RM
I want to build a custom, rack-mountable 2600. Could be expensive... could also be awesome.
  • Tronty-Six Hundred
An Atari 2600 Tron console mod. Yes - I want to make this happen for real.

* As always, project names that are in quotes are code-names, and not the actual titles.

Updates:

  • 2-23-20: First pass at AtariVox voices for Gorf now complete. Huge thanks to RevEng for porting his Speakalator app to the Mac, making it possible for me to finally develop AtariVox voices. Also, thanks to AtariAge member Machine for recording gameplay of his arcade Gorf machine for reference, and for his valuable feedback.
  • 2-27-20: Added label artwork for Venture Reloaded to the list. I've had this on my own to-do list for awhile, but hadn't included it here yet.

Update:

  • 3-23-20: Added new homebrew project, codenamed "Ambidextrous". Early in development.

Hmmm, I will give this a guess and go with Robotron 2084.

Still trying to come up with something for Trash Can.

I take it that Ambidextrous is Robotron 2084?  :)

Yep! McCallister guessed it back in March. Of course I couldn't say anything at the time. :D

In hindsight, I should've called it "Refrigerator Attack", since the Grunts look like refrigerators. ;)

Yay! After several years, I can finally say I guessed one of these riddles.  Hope you keep them coming!

Thanks! Of course it all depends on the programmers. If I'm asked to be part of an unannounced project, I'll post it here with a code name (unless asked not to). :)

Here's the unused Refrigerator Attack title screen:

This might be a trap, but I am going to guess ZZyzzyxx.

Lots of stuff going on! I'm not even mentioning some of the smaller side-projects like laying out boxes and updating old manuals. I may have to reboot my To-Do List again, just to clean it up a little. Plus, it's been the customary two years since the last time I did it.
