TV starts acting funny

My Toshiba TV screen becomes darker and one moment later brighter.

 

It happens with other channels too.

That reminds me when my monitor had the same thing before it dies years ago.

 

Probably I will buy a new tv set one day.

I think the last time this happened to me, my dad pulled the tubes and we drove to the drug store to test them.  This might be of help if I could remember which tube it was.
