So everything apparently has been done regarding my jury duty...except notify me if I have been excused or not. So as I wait on pins & needles waiting for the card to come, I got the mail. No card, but I did get a 7800 joystick. Attempt #3 at getting a working Atari 7800 joystick. I plugged the joystick in. Turned on the Atari 7800.

And lo and behold, I was able to move! Left right up down, all that. And both fire buttons work as well! Now I can actually control my 7800 with a controller meant to control a 7800. Third time's the charm. Is it just me or did QC at Atari go down some time between 2600 and 7800? My 2600 is still working great, with original controllers. But I had to get 2 different 7800s and 3 different controllers to make a 7800 work. Or is it just poor luck?

So now in my arsenal of time killing to wait to see if my card has come I can include a 7800 and some games.
