It's all falling apart at work...

Just learned that two more of my co-workers have given their two weeks notice, which will leave us with only 3 people once they leave unless we hire 4 maintenance workers. I'm so pissed off now, it's not funny. Just found out that this has been going on for years. People have come and go many times in the maintenance department where I work and the funny thing is, it's been the very same head boss that for the past few years, has always refused to give more money to keep people at the company. I'm so pissed off, it's not funny. It feels like it's all falling apart. Nearly 7 months of working to build bonds with my co-workers, only to watch them give up in frustration and quit. Again, there has to be a light at the end of the tunnel. I applied for one of the 4 positions today so that maybe, I can move up the ladder and work in Maintenance instead of being a Custodian. Trying to convince my boss to give me the position but all I can do is hope. If I don't get it, I'm on my way out. I simply cannot stand the politics at work and the lack of respect that I get from the morons I clean up after. One guy has continued for months to make a mess in the bathroom by putting wads of toliet paper behind the toliet because he knows that *someone* will have to pick it up. I'm getting really pissed off at guys like that. Things have got to get better.I'm going to repeat this a thousand times: Things will get better. They cannot get any worse and I need this job more than ever.

Many jobs are like that. If someone can be replaced for the same or cheaper, the company would rather push out the established person who wants more dough. Companies lose a lot of good people that way but they have a bottom line too. If they feel they get the job done on the cheap, why pay more?

You're employed now so start looking for something else. That way, you have money coming in and maybe you'll find something better. It's a lot easier than just walking out the door with nothing to fall back on if it takes some time to find something.

My latest blog entry, I mentioned that my boss said something about the company training me to get a better position within so who knows? Though I doubt I'll get one of those maintenance positions they have. I put in for one.
