Chip's Challenge is a puzzle game that plays like a platformer. Its top down view is reminiscent of Zelda II, but it has a whole bunch of puzzle elements like Fire & Ice for the NES. There are a set number of chips for each level to collect, but that's not as easy as it sounds, for the programmers put in keys, warps, switches, enemies, fire, ice, water, and even tanks for you to avoid or go across. While the first levels are OK, the later ones are just too hard for me, and there are over 150 of them to try (now that we have all the passwords for the game here at AtariAge.) While some of the puzzles are tear-your-hair-out maddening, it still has the addictive quality, which is why most people enjoy it. So, to this game, which was also available on Windows in a couple of Microsoft Entertainment Packages (which is how I first got to know the game as a kid.)
