TV Week covers
You know those television listings you get every Sunday in your newspaper? Well, the one in my newspaper is called "TV Week." And, I probably mentioned this before, but they redesigned it in July of 2006. And call me crazy, but I have every single one since. That's 54 issues of TV Week in my dresser drawer. Sometimes I like to take a look at them. I tried to find out when the OJ Simpson special "If I Did It" aired once, but I couldn't find it. I remember it was in the listings, but it didn't actually air. Anyway, recently, they've put shows almost no one watches on the cover. Last week it was "Eureka" on the Sci-Fi channel. Eureka was on the cover last year around this time, too. This week, it's "Mad Men" on American Movie Classics. AMC has had some original fictional shows (i.e. "Remember WENN"), but most of them didn't have very long runs. My question is, why put shows that hardly anyone watches on the covers? Why not put something that lots of people watch? "Don't Forget The Lyrics" is a popular show, and if I was in charge of making the covers, that's what I'd put on this week's cover. ABC's "Set For Life" is premiering Friday, so that might be a good cover candidate, too. And why is it in grids? I hate grids. I've gotten used to them now, but I liked it better when they were actually listings. I think that's enough ranting for today. ![]()
