Introducing Dungeon Master
Hi there!
Ha! Look at the bastard taking his last breath:

Wow, I hadn't expected that playing Dungeon Master again after twenty years would still be such an incredibly great experince! But it's been every bit as good as I remembered it! ![]()
I've been trying the Amiga version in emulation first, but that kinda sucked. I spent more time with "Guru Meditations" and reloading than actually playing the game.
But the PC version ran totally smooth with DOSBox. It's only fault is that it doesn't make use of stereo like the Amiga version does, but otherwise it's all the same than on the Amiga. They even added a little title tune and an ending sequence.
A bit of a downer now is that "Chaos Strikes Back" was never released for PCs. After some research I found that some maniac fan has reverse-engineered the game and created a windows version, so I might try that. Let's hope I manage to transfer my characters somehow ![]()
The reverse-engineered C++ code was also ported to other platforms like MAC and Linux, so it might be worth a look for others as well: Chaos Strikes Back for Windows
What I also found out during some researches (you see the DM fever broke out here again
), is that there are also some other "official" oddities available for CSBWin:
- The "Kid dungeon" that was found on the Apple 2GS version
- "Theron's Quest" which was an original PC-Engine game using the DM engine
Both of these were ripped and are available for playing. So I'm a bit undecided wether I should try one of those next, or go straight after Lord Chaos again.
There's also like 50 fanmade dungeons available for CSBWin, so there should be enough fodder to keep me busy for a while ![]()
Greetings,
Manuel
