Long Song #49
In case you don't already know, I'm collecting songs that are 15 minutes or longer on CD. I have a few that I have on records and not on CD, but now I'm just mainly focusing on CDs because the technology is better, they can last forever (theoretically), and they are smaller. Well, anyway, I went out and got the album Eat a Peach by the Allman Brothers Band which has a song called Mountain Jam on it that is 33 minutes long. It's called Mountain Jam because it's loosely based on Donovan's song "There Is a Mountain," but mostly it's just the band jamming live in one of their concerts. I'm not a big huge fan of long songs I've collected, but I do enjoy listening to them, especially Miles Davis, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Pink Floyd and Frank Zappa. In fact, I would never have heard of gy!be if it weren't for my long song collection. I'm listening to Mountain Jam as I'm typing this, and I really like it. And, you don't have to ask, I have In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. ![]()
