A good day for baseball
Well, it's a good day to open the 2008 NWL season here in Salem. Not too hot. Yes, the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes are back to defend their league title this season. Their first game is vs. Yakima, and it starts in about two hours. Last season, they won the NWL title, which, when you think about it, isn't all that impressive, given that there's only 8 teams in the league. The NWL is minor-league baseball, so MLB players can come here, or vice-versa. So, let's see how good the Volcanoes can do this year. I don't know why they're called the Volcanoes, the nearest one is Mt. Hood, and the nearest active one is Mt. St. Helens. I think they should have named it the Salem Storm. Much more fitting, except for this year there hasn't been many storms.
