The broken Jag CD unit you have... It might just be that the wheel in the center (the drive wheel or whatever its called hehe) might be seized up. I got one that wasn't working but all I did was gently pry it up all around. I think the plastic might have swelled over time and the whole wheel sort of settled and seized up. I used a tiny flat head screw driver to pry. Try that, but carefully.

 

I even did it with the unit on so I could see if it began to spin etc. This may or may not be a good idea depending on your experience / confidence with it. If you can find something rigid that is non conductive that might be a better bet.

 

Mine's been working fine since.

That was actually the first thing I tried when I got it. I'm pretty sure it's not the spindle that's inoperable, as it seems to move freely, whereas spindles that have been pushed in meet with more resistance than usual. It also doesn't appear to sit lower than the one in my working JagCD.
