Are the colors final?

No, they don't have to be final. The reason it has a black background is that part of it is obscuring the HMOVE lines. Other than that, the blue and yellow can certainly change.

 

I think I wanted a blue background for the menu in particular to evoke more of an Atari 8-bit vibe. But I don't have any emotional connection to the color scheme. I don't mind going with colors picked via committee.

The blue is ok, but I don't like it combined with green.

 

Orange gives a much better combination. IMO.

The photo just makes it look green. It's supposed to be yellow. maybe because of the flicker, the yellow and the blue kind of mix into green. I guess it would be better to pick colors that mix better.
