Playing Feud (C64)

Hi there!

So the eternal battle between the wizards Learic and Leanoric...

...lasted about 20 minutes :lolblue:

Mainly because I bought the tape as a kid and still remembered how it's done ;)

Despite the nice idea of having a duel between two wizards, the game hasn't much substance. You're just running around between 30-40 screens like the one pictured above, collecting herbs. Once you have gathered enough, you throw them into your cauldron, which is charging your spells. You have a good dozen of them, with only fireball and lightning being really useful.

Well, three quick fireballs later the other wizard was killed. I got rewarded with possibly the worst ending ever:

(You get the very same screen like if you lose, only the percentage is then zero...)

Some future day the "Playing..." series may see another low budget game in the form of "Motos", but first it will return to the third dimension once again.

Greetings,

Manuel

Worst ending ever? At least the font is cool. :(

EDIT: So, what, you die whether you win or lose? And what do you have to do to get a higher %? This game sounds lame but I am intrigued...

The manual doesn't give any more info, wether there's another goal or so. Maybe the Atari version makes more sense?

Well, I played the A8 one for ~10 minutes. It looks pretty awful, since they went for the 4-shades-of-the-same-color color scheme. The music is fun, though. But oh my it is sllllooooowwwwww. I ran it at double speed (in emulation) just so it would be playable. Even faster would be better.

Hm... I can't move the wizard in Atari800Win... I tried both versions from fandal and the one from atarimania. Is there a special trick required?

I'm not sure, it took me a minute or two of banging on my keyboard before anything started happening. :( And I'm not sure what did it in the end. Try moving the joystick, hitting the button, hitting enter, or hitting START, or...maybe you just have to wait a minute?

Ok, experimented a little.

At cracker splash screen (I assume?) hit any key to go to FEUD title screen. There, hit joystick button to start, then move joystick to move wizard.
