Twenty-six years, two months, and five days.

That's how long I've been waiting to post this blog entry!

Actually, back then, I didn't even know I'd have a blog now. Or what a blog was. Or would be.

The point is, I've been waiting for this particular day for that long.

"Why," you ask?

Y'see... back in 1982, Intellivision released the game Star Strike, along with a now-infamous commercial...

Also back in 1982, the comic strip Bloom County was my favorite comic strip. It had only been around about a year and-a-half, but one day a strip was published that I had to cut out of the newspaper and stick up on the wall in my room. It remained there for years, and was one of my favorite strips.

But like many early Bloom County strips, it was never reprinted in any collection. I long-ago lost the strip, but never forgot about it, having read it countless times and burned it into my memory. I always wanted to try and get a copy of it again. I'd even considered contacting the newspaper syndicate to see if I could get a photocopy of it somehow.

But then last year sometime, Gocomics began running Bloom County from the very beginning.

Every strip.

I knew all I had to do was wait.

Today, after months of reading, after years of waiting... they finally re-ran that strip:

Thanks for posting about that strip, I read Bloom County for a while but I don't remember seeing that one. Wow, 26 years ago. I don't want to think about that. :(

Bloom County was one of my favorites back in the day, though somehow I missed that one. Thanks for posting it!

That's my birthday and I'm racking my brain trying to remember what I would have gotten for my birthday back in '82. I'm not sure but I think it was some books and magazines. Maybe Vidiot magazine? I distinctly remember one video game magazine I had from around that time that had a picture of an 80's girl playing a Centipede arcade game on the cover. And I don't think it's the Electronic Games magazine I find online. I thought there was another with a white cover. I was also a big Dr Who fan back then and I think I may have got some paperback novels, Dr Who magazines, and comic books. I was also a big Bloom County fan and for Christmas one of those years I got the first Bloom County comic collection. I still have that someplace although over the years it's been read a lot and the cover tore off.

That was a long time ago.
