Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin

And Portrait of Ruin is complete. I didn't unlock everything or get every spell/weapon this time around, I just focused on getting the good ending. I still have my save game for where I DID unlock just about everything however! The map complete is like 999.8 or something like that. So I'm guessing it's just missing dracula's room.

Hm. Despite owning the DS for a few years longer, I seem to have more PSP games. (mostly rpgs) Trying to leave the games I still have in shrinkwrap sealed (About 10 that I bought this year - just never got around to opening them.) until I play through most of what I have that's unsealed. This leaves me with just 3 choices for the next DS game. Trace Memory, Tao's Adventure, and Lunar: Dragon Song. I bought Dragon Song because I'm a lunar fan, although I'd have to agree with most of the reviews I see of the game and say it's Not That Great from what I have played of it. But then I haven't played too far into it in the past before getting bored. I suspect I'm not going to make a decision right away. I could just as easily play through some of the GBA games instead. Ah well.

Portrait of Ruin is a pretty good game. If you're wanting help in unlocking everything, I'd suggest completing the hard mode at a level cap of 1 (you get the bonuses of the 50 and 25 caps as well as a third bonus that increases some pretty important stats). My biggest suggestion if you're going to play hard mode at Lv1: make sure you have the Scout Armor and the Berserker Armor before using your clear game data. Given that one save file has 999.8% cleared, the Scout Armor will greatly reduce the damage you take (as with normal equipment, it's very easy to get killed in one hit on hard mode). Now, for the Berserker Armor, I can PM the use for it if you want (so not to spoil it for others), or post here if you want.

Entirely up to you whichever way you do it. I would have otherwise just tried getting through it with "Just don't let the damned things touch me." approach if at all possible. Although I suspect it'd be a lot harder to do that on hard mode if they increase the difficulty radically the way they do in Lament of Innocence. The only claim to glory I can probably claim for this run through was that Jonathan used the Vampire Killer for the entire game, including unlocking the whip's power. Granted, used Charlotte and Jonathan equally but with the use of a few mastered subweapons Jonathan was still able to take out several bosses on his own. :)

I might not attempt hard mode til some time after christmas however. I'm already considering playing through the ps2 castlevanias again.
