SpiceWare 6,614 Posted January 14, 2009 I knew that song sounded familiar! The KMFDM version(didn't know it was a cover) just popped up in iTunes. It says I last listened to it on August 5. I discovered KMFDM via Sputnik 7, where I first saw the video for Megalomanic. Quote Share this comment Link to comment

Oh wow, I didn't even know that one. Pretty cool. DAF did the original indeed, they're around for 30 years now, starting somewhen in 1978 already I was linking to the Mussolini song since it's still the most popular I think. I also like their slower numbers like Greif nach den Sternen. I like that monoton/minimal sound, just like Kraftwerk for example. (While I'm at it: ) I discovered KMFDM via Sputnik 7, where I first saw the video for Megalomanic. KMFDM is one of those bands I know for years, but I never really spent much time to really listen to them. I think I only have their single (produced by !). I'm sure I've seen them live once, but I can't even remember what occasion it was. They were probably opening for or something like that Quote Share this comment Link to comment

I liked that - Kraftwerk is another favorite of mine. Just checked iTunes Store, they only have Die Kleinen und die Bösen and the single T.E.O.T.H. for DAF (While I'm at it: ) Ooh, I like that too! iTunes has 6 albums for them. I've bookmarked both DAF and WE for future purchases (just paid $120+ to update prior purchases to iTunes Plus, so I've stopped buying new music until they finish the iTunes Plus conversion). They were probably opening for or something like that I only gave that KMFDM song 3 stars (their cover of Der Mussolini got 4). My 5 star songs for their stuff are all from their albums Adios and Symbols: The afore mentioned Megalomaniac, , D.I.Y., , Adios, Sycophant (can't find on YouTube), , , , Stray Bullet, and Down and Out (can't find on YouTube). Just checked iTunes Store, they only have Die Kleinen und die Bösen and the single T.E.O.T.H. for DAF The latter seems to coincide with the total eclipse of the sun we had over central Europe in 2000. I'd be careful though, it might just be a Bonnie Tyler cover The album I can't recommend either, because I only know two of the songs. The album containing most of the popular songs is called "Alles ist gut", maybe it's better to wait for that one to arrive on iTunes. Ooh, I like that too! iTunes has 6 albums for them. Wow. Do they have VNV Nation as well? Their is my favorite electro anthem for a couple of years already. Still gives me goosebumps I only gave that KMFDM song 3 stars (their cover of Der Mussolini got 4). Thanks, I'll check these all out! I just remembered another song I liked from KMFDM, which was called "KMFDM sucks". There's several videos with the song on Youtube, but I'm missing the particular version I remember, which AFAIR had cleaner electronics and sounded less metal. It has funny lyrics like "KMFDM forward the ultimate sound - and a message from Satan if you turn it around" Quote Share this comment Link to comment
Cybergoth 293 Posted January 15, 2009 where I first saw the video for Megalomanic. Weird. I was watching this last night, but now it says "This video has been removed due to terms of use violation." Wow, there's Nina Hagen singing on that one Quote Share this comment Link to comment
SpiceWare 6,614 Posted January 15, 2009 That's a bummer, glad I had this. Hadn't heard of her, interesting person. They've got some of her stuff in iTunes, I'll check it out. Quote Share this comment Link to comment
