Playing the 2600
I haven't been playing the 2600 much lately, so I thought i'd take it for a spin.
The first game that I popped in was Bowling. IMO, it's much better than the version found on Wii Sports because it gets rid of the motion control sensors (which I suck at) and it's just bowling at its purest. While it is basically a random number generator, within 15 minutes of playing it, I was able to get 5 strikes in a row in one game, and scored 230 in another. My highest score in Wii Sports for the about 9 months I've owned it is 200. Verdict: 2600 version is much better.
The next game was Donkey Kong. I can easily beat the first screen, but the second screen I was having trouble with in emulators. I guess nothing beats the real thing because after getting all three deaths on the second screen after a few tries, I beat the second screen without losing a life. In fact, I beat both screens twice in one game. I wish there were more screens, though.
The final game was Crystal Castles. I beat all 8 screens on this one and after that, it went back to the first screen. I almost got 30,000 points. I think I like Pac-Man better, though, because it's tough to go diagonally, and it's tough to jump in this game. A few times I tried to jump and ended up either not jumping at all or landing on the enemy.
Anyway, it was fun playing a few games I haven't played lately and I think I'll do it again tonight.
