Expensive hobbies

Geez, collecting DS games is expensive. So i've decided to cut back. The only games I'm going to spend more than $20 on are a.) ones i really want, and b.) super-major releases (like Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars).

Right now, I have 121 in my collection, and i've decided that this month i'm going to beef up my DS library.

Who knows, maybe ten years down the road, i'll start a DS online store and sell most of these. Anyway, my pdf page of my collection as it stands now is at the bottom of this entry. Some of these are pretty rare, i think. Maybe I'll start a DS rarity list and limit it to games from 2004-7. That'd be a fun project I think. I need to save my money though to get a DSi, maybe, because i don't know whether the new DSi games will work with an old DS, or vice versa. I don't know why Nintendo needed to come out with a new DS, why not just come out with an all-new "Game Boy 4" or something.

Since the DSi has a faster processor & more RAM, DSi games won't be playable on the DS. However, the DS is a huge market, so I suspect developers will continue to release DS games (which will be playable on the DSi) for some time. In fact, I bet developers (other than Nintendo, who want those upgrade sales) won't create DSi games unless they are using the camera or the SD slot or are forced to by Nintendo.

It may even be possible to make dual format games which will provide more advanced features on the DSi, although I doubt many developers outside of Nintendo themselves will bother.

Of course, anything downloaded from DSiWare is DSi only.

Companies might release DS+DSi dual format WiFi Connect games so they can use WPA on a DSi and WEP on a DS.
