Playing Mickey Mouse (C64)
Hi there!
Sometime before Capcom and Sega got their video game licenses from Disney, Gremlin did a Mickey Mouse game for home computers:

Their license was apparently rather short lived, the only other Disney game from Gremlin I can think of is a game about Basil the mouse detective.
This particular Mickey Mouse game at hands plays like a prototype license game disaster
Mickeys mission is to climb up 4 towers full of ghouls'n'ghosts and barricade every door he finds on his way. Weird enough, the doors are already closed to begin with
, so Mickey has to fight enemies with a hammer and a water pistol (full of anti-ghost water) until one of them randomly drops a key.
Mickey can then unlock the door and has to play one out of 4 different mini games. They're rather simple. Three of them are single screen dexterity tests; the fourth is a bit like a mini Gauntlet, where you have to find and return three items back to the exit.
Once reaching the top of a tower, Mickey just starts over at the bottom of the next. The mini games repeat over and over again, and while they get progressivly harder, they get boring a lot faster.
The graphics are okay; A lot worse is the short background music loop, which will drive you nuts after a few minutes ![]()
At the end there's a little boss battle, after which one is rewarded with some nice fireworks at least:

Overall it's a game to absolutely avoid ![]()
Some future day the "Playing..." series may see another Disney license game in the form of "Who framed Roger Rabbit", but first it'll continue with something else.
Greetings,
Manuel
