If you've been reading this blog, you'd probably notice my love of crossword puzzles, both making and solving them. The poorest-quality of puzzles I've ever seen published professionally is every week in my local newspaper's TV listings. It looks as though they only have 7 designs and just keep reusing the same designs only the words are different. There's a close-up of a famous person's face in the center, and some squares have asterisks, and once you've completed the puzzle, you unscramble the asterisked letters to come up with the name of said person. I don't watch much TV, especially network prime-time. It's limited to an occasional episode or two of "Cops" on Saturday nights and that's it. And most of the longer answers are names of characters or actors or actresses on such shows as Lost or Private Practice, which puts me at a disadvantage, so I don't usually do them. Well, I tried MAKING one of these, and since the designs involve such pro-nonos as two-letter words and squares which don't connect to another word, and it took about five or ten minutes to make one. So I'm just going to keep making these whenever I get bored and post them. Here's an example of one you might see in my paper (which I made). You can see the designs aren't really all that impressive. Also, it's an odd 12x12 size. I remember these appearing in the TV listings from as far back as I can remember. Most of the work I'll do on these is trying to think up of the long answers.
