Didj homebrews?
I'm interested in the Didj. I don't know why, I just am. So, it was sad when I heard that it was being discontinued and replaced by the Explorer, which is supposed to be better than the Didj. And sure, it does have a lot more games than the Didj (40+ compared to the 15 of the Didj.) I first heard about the educational handheld system in February of 2008 after reading a newspaper article about it. I thought to myself, I need to get one of them. Two years later, I finally got one, after reading that it might not be around much longer. Now that news is confirmed, and that support for it I heard on the website that will end in late 2011. But now there is news that there are going to be no more games for it, I think now is the time to start thinking about someone to make homebrew games for it. I was thinking if people can make homebrew games for the DS, why not the Didj? I guess because it's regarded as a children's toy, that not many adults like myself would be interested in it. The reason why I'm interested in this is not because of the subject matter, but because of the hardware. So, if someone can figure out how to make homebrew games for the Didj and set up software to do so, I'd be eternally grateful. Something just like VIDE for the Virtual Boy, or batari BASIC for the 2600. I have heard that the Didj is Linux-based, so maybe it will be easier? Anyway, I haven't the first idea on how to make software to make homebrew games for a system that hasn't been homebrewed before. I suppose in order to do this, you'd have to hack into the system though, and that's something that I don't want to do for fear that I might break it. Anyway, I have made a website for the Didj called the Didjest, which I started back in 2008 when the Didj was just getting started. And now I would like to make homebrews for this thing I got. As I previously stated, I would like to make a Grand Theft Auto for the Didj. The subject taught would be Math (each Didj has a different subject matter.) I just think it would be funny to attempt an M-rated game on a kids' console.
