Motion Picture Scores
I must have been in the mood for film soundtracks today. At the record store I got Vangelis's "Chariots of Fire" (a long song, a little over 20 minutes, track 7), and the score to "The Social Network." I have seen neither film, but got the Social Network soundtrack because it was scored by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails fame. I looked around and saw it on vinyl first and then looked in the new CD section under Reznor, Trent and couldn't find it. So I took the vinyl copy up to the counter and asked "Do you have this on CD?" They did. So I got it. The "Chariots on Fire" was also a CD. The Social Network is kind of like a fifth volume of Ghosts. I'm listening to it for the first time right now as I'm typing this. I have been looking for it since it came out. Got it for only $10. Right now I'm seeing a typo. It says Track 2 is an interpolation of "35 Ghosts IV". I think they meant to say Track 3, as it sounds very much like a song in the Ghosts album. I don't know if it's 35 or not, but I recognized that tune. They still didn't have my records I wanted, though. And work began on My Butt Hurts Part 4 recently, so next Christmas I hope to have about 75 full minutes of music instead of the 47 they're going to get. It's kind of funny, the soundtracks both sound similar to each other, even though they were made about 30 years apart.
