2600 Homebrew Author Impromptu Gathering

Wow, just through sheer good fortune I got to meet in person with cd_w. Since vdub_bobby is close by, the three of of us got together last night to talk shop and have a beer. :-)

cd_w on the left and vdub_bobby on the right. Chris was visiting Seattle and just happened to be doing work at my company. Through some small talk about homebrew he found out that I was there. It's a games company and he was a little surprised to find me there.

I have now met in person almost every person who I've collaborated with on various 2600 projects. I almost met Tommy in Portland but in that case bad fortune somehow kept us in different areas of the show over the course of two days. Seems impossible but it happened. :-)

Hey guys, that was a lot of fun! It may have been the beer but I agreed to help vdub_bobby with RPS and I think also vowed to help cd_w with his projects as well. :-)

Cheers!

I'm glad you took the photo as I have been having trouble convincing myself that it happened - such a strange set of coincidences! It was really great meeting you and Bob, and we did indeed agree to collaborate on future Atari projects! I'm hoping to see Arcade Pong soon, and perhaps something more ambitious after :D

I got to have lunch with Bob on a trip to Seattle... man, must have been a year and a half ago now. Maybe more. I have yet to meet any other AtariAgers, but hope to someday. I'm thinking next summer I may have to finally hit some of the game expos.

Maybe starting with this one.

I was actually in LA on Monday (Santa Clarita) and I nearly sent you a message, but unfortunately I ran out of time on the project. I'll let you know if I'm ever back there again.

Hard to believe it is already over a year since this meeting! You and vdub_bobby have been very quiet on AA recently - hope things are going well?

Everything is well for me. Turmoil would be the quick way to describe the last year. I moved back to Canada (Vancouver) and started a game company with a friend. Things went great and the game is coming along nicely, however, funds were limited and now, to pay my bills, I'm working back in 3D rendering programming at United Front Games in downtown Vancouver. I don't have a 2600 'project' right now. I have been spending time doing some odds and ends for the NES and for the Propeller embedded system. Most of my time in the last few months has been completely soaked up by the incredible challenge of working out a great renderer for DX11 that properly harnesses all of the CPU cores and the powerful GPUs whilst maintaining backwards compatibility with DX10 cards and older CPUs.
