DS Death
Looks like the DS is going to die a slow and painful death just like the GBA. And I'm not terribly excited about the 3DS either. With absolutely ZERO games I'm interested in, I think I'll take a wait-and-see approach, and if it looks like it's going to go the same route as the Virtual Boy, I'm definitely going to buy it. So here's what I'm looking forward to in the next two months on the regular DS:
You Don't Know Jack! - 2/8
Giana Sisters - 2/22
Atari Volume 2 - 3/8
Centipede - 3/29
I figure March 31 will be the cutoff line. Anything released after this will be an automaitc purchase, seeing as how there looks like very little gaming ahead for the system that couldn't die until now. 6 years is a long time in the tech world, so I'm a little bit surprised that Nintendo decided to kill off the DS now instead of a few years ago. Why not kill off the Wii too with a Wii 2, Nintendo? I guess I can only dream that if the 3DS doesn't make it, they'll go back to the original DS. It looks like Nintendo isn't going to give anyone a chance to wait and see, because of the so few DS games being made now. It's 3DS or nothing, which is sad, especially in this economy where I doubt many people have an extra $300 lying around ($250 for the system and a few more dollars for games to go with it.) How stupid is Nintendo anyway? Releasing a system in an economy like this? I know the DS is 6 years old, but the Wii is 5 and there is no talk of a Wii successor. In fact, there is no talk of a successor to the X-Box 360 and PS3, either. Both are apparently in it for the long haul, releasing Kinect and Move (which I will point out are Wii rip-offs.) I don't know, I just wish we had a hand-held system that wouldn't die, like the original Game Boy, which lasted 9 years (10 if you count Pokemon Yellow and Super Breakout).
