Abbott and Costello
I have mentioned in this blog before that I collect DVD sets of TV shows from the '50s. The collection isn't really very big right now, but it got a boost from a purchase I just made. I've been reading about this on tvshowsondvd.com and really wanted it for my collection but never thought I'd see it. But when I did finally see it, I bought something else instead, or just didn't buy it on the trips out there. Well, I finally bought it today. The Abbott & Costello Show on DVD. The complete series. It wasn't really all that expensive, either. 9 discs are in this thing, and ended up paying less than $40! I haven't had a chance yet to watch it, but I might review it here when I do. The show aired in syndication from 1951-2, so it's really old (although the box says 1952-3, well, they're wrong. I trust the guys who made the Complete Prime-Time TV Guide, or whatever it's called.) What really got me interested in it though was one of the episodes from it was chosen in inclusion for TV Land's Top 100 TV Episodes list. TV Land made a book about classic TV (back when they actually cared about it! I wouldn't call Home Improvement and Roseanne "classic TV".) I also got to the used video game store and bought Ratatouille for Game Cube, which was apparently the last game made for it (which was why I wanted it.) I thought I'd never see it because they didn't have it, but I finally did see it. I also saw the same Kirby's Dream Land 3 for Super Nintendo for $40, I passed on it again because it's too expensive. If they lowered the price to $30, I'd consider buying it.
