Most of the day was spent looking for one of three books with no e's in them. We went to two bookstores and the library, and found nothing. I did, however, find a few records I wanted and bought. Anyway, right now, on eBay, there is a first edition of Ernest Wright's "Gadsby" for $4,660 (free shipping!). Apparently the first edition is uber rare, and there was another one (not a first edition) for $16.99. Searches for "Toxic Panda" found nothing, and only a few translations of "La Disparition" (sp?). So I'm thinking if I want a book without the letter E in it, I'm going to have to pay a little more than what I expected to. Well, anyway, I'm up to page 4 of MY book. My plan is to do a page a day. Each page has an average of 600 words on it, so right now my novel stands at 2,700 words. I'm aiming for at least 50,000. So basically, I have no idea what I'm doing, I have no idea about the plot, I just play it by ear. I'm using Times New Roman font size 12, which you can apparently fit a lot on one 8.5x11 page with. Not to be a pessimist, but I doubt I can make a 50,000 word novel, especially without using the letter E. Sure, I can go just fine writing the thing now, but right now I'm guessing 10,000 if I'm lucky, but who knows, maybe I'll make it to 50,000. But there's just one thing holding me back: like I said earlier, I'm four pages into the thing and still have no idea what the book will ultimately be about. Right now it's about a guy who works at a marshmallow factory who finds a lizard laying in the middle of the street and nurses it back to health. Who knows what other things will happen to the guy, after all, I'm only 2,700 words in.
