Dogsitting

We got stuck with the arduous task of taking care of my sister's dog while her family goes on vacation for the next 8 days. Needless to say, our cat isn't taking this new development too well, she's hiding under the bed and when she saw the dog, she growled and hissed at it. She has to come out from under there some time, or can a cat stay under a bed for 8 straight days? She usually hides under the bed when my sister and niece and nephew and the dog come over, but all have left except the dog. The dog is staying here unfortunately. It's not like I hate the dog, it's that I like the cat. Poor cat. All upset. I wonder if she'll come out from under the bed. I try to be nice and go in there to be with her, but the dog keeps wandering in there. That's when she growled a little and hissed at the dog. And poor me. I have to be with the dog to make sure she doesn't get into trouble. Right now, Mom's with her, but when she's at work, I'll have to be in the living room, my room is too messy for a dog to be in.

Give the cat some place high to sit and watch the dog from. Keep the dog away from the cat's food, water, litter & sleeping area. You want them to avoid confrontations.
