Switched-On Bach (and Grieg)
I was looking around Value Village for Atari games. I didn't find any, but I did find a copy of Wendy Carlos' album Switched-On Bach. It was a record, so I needed to convert it to my computer in order to play it. I converted the Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major. (tracks 10-12. I lumped them together as one, though. it turns out to almost 14 minutes' worth of music.) What this is is Bach music as performed on a Moog synthesizer. Pretty interesting, as the record was made in 1968. Also interesting is if you Google "Walter Carlos", you'll find out that he had a sex change and changed his name to Wendy. So apparently Atari programmers aren't the only ones that do this.
I also found at the video game store "Omega Race" and "Mountain King" got them both for $7, which I find odd because a copy of H.E.R.O. cost $20! Anyway, I already had a copy of Mountain King, I want to get some more money in my PayPal account (so if you want my extra Mountain King, PM me.) I'd found out that there's music to this, so I rushed over to vgmusic.com to see if it was in the database. Luckily they didn't (Jose hadn't done it yet!) So I did it and found out that it was a piece of Grieg's. Gyruss also has some cool classical music in it. So, anyway, my weekend was classic. The cat is coping a little better than I had hoped, she actually ventured out from under my mom's bed, and walked around a few times (right now, though, she's under my bed, along with her food, water and litterbox.) After my dog died a few years ago, I now realize what a pain in the neck they are! I have to take the thing out, and she pulls on the leash and wants to run around everywhere. Luckily, I only need to do this Monday-Friday, which I'll be all alone with the dog from 6am-4:30pm until Mom gets home from work. I'll probably be asleep when she leaves, we left the dog alone for about 5 hours yesterday and she did good, so it's not really a big deal if I'm asleep alone with the dog. Now, someone should record a Switched-On Bach using the Atari 2600. That'd be really cool.
