First, an introduction...

It would be easiest to start off by telling you who I am and what I do. Unfortunetely, due to circumstances (ie- female stalker) I am not able to readily divulge this information. What I can tell you is that my name is Jason (or JD) and that I live in Kansas City. I'm guessing you are here because either you are disgusted by my blog title and want to degrade me for it, or you understand the reference and are curious what I mean by it. Of course, you could just want to give a shout out to the antlers... :ponder: Anyway, I joined the forum back in March after deciding I wanted to create a dodgeball game. Atari and Nintendo were the only options I considered in doing this, and when i ran across this site it completely won me over. There was plenty of development tools for the NES, but none all collected together nicely in one place. Andrew Davie's tutorials instantly made me think that "hey, I can do this too" and gave me the spirit to move forward.I didn't have much time to devote to Atari over the summer, but have recently got back into the coding mix. I've been reading a lot of the newbie postings and after going back to read over some of my first posts here, I realized I was a lot like them when I first showed up and asked a lot of dumb questions. However, most come and realize the amount of work that will be needed, then try to get others to do it for them, and move on when amazingly no one volunteers to code their game for them. That's when I realized that I am different from them. After this sudden realization, I don't think I can go on calling myself a newbie anymore. I'm not exactly a Jedi master yet either, but will continue the path which the council sets forth. Now that I have some understanding of Assembly (the only prior programming was 2 semesters of C++ and 1 of Visual Basic) I figured I should start a chronicle of my experience in case anyone else (ie- non programmer) decided to start down the same path.It can be done. It just takes time, patience, and a little help from our friends. That is all.-JD

Greetings,

Manuel

Looking forward to progressing on my projects! :) My next entry will be two-fold; 1. my favorite threads every newbie should read and 2. a summary of my projects. Look for it sometime next week.
