Oh what was I thinking !?!?! (Ooze is NOT done!)
I had a chance to play the 2600 minigames today.I liked nearly all of them. Great fun for this afternoon. I stayed away from the Ooze for a coupla three weeks to give me new perspective. Going through the compo games really showed me a lot about levels and play balance.Where Ooze is concerned, the game works and plays solid. It is all fucked up where play balance and progression is concerned. This is cool because I thought it was ok and now I see where it's just not. That's what entering the compo did for me. Showed me a lot of things that would otherwise be difficult to learn. Good stuff.Anyway, I need to cleanup the levels and go back to playtesting again. Ideally, I can get a few folks to chime in as they did last time. The compo left me in a dilemma where I knew I needed more outside input, but didn't want to bias voting.Oh well, no worries about that stuff --I just want a good game finished! At this point, I'm not sure how to proceed. My gut says I should lay out the options and try to put together a solid progression from there, then put the game out in the forums again for playtests and comments. Problem with that was that I only got a few comments. Maybe that's enough....If any of the compo authors read this, --thanks for your great games. I had a lot of fun playing them.
