She's started to play it now. She likes it. I wish it said more than "Go Fish" with the AtariVox. Is there any ROM left for more speech? It would be nice if it said "yum" or something when you swallowed the fish or "I'm growing" when it grows.

Yeah, there was a little room left for speech, I think. Haven't looked at the code in 6 months, though.

 

I didn't add more speech because:

1. I couldn't think of anything else good to add

2. I didn't think a robot voice sounded good in a fish game, and it takes a LOT of time to try to massage the voice into something more natural sounding

3. I didn't have a lot of time to mess around with it, especially since getting the high-score saving code to work took ~2 weeks longer than I anticipated.

 

But it would have been nice to have used the voice more; I agree.

I keep forgetting about the high score save. That justifies the AV even without speech.
