Is my external usb hard disk saying farewell?

Hi

 

I noted that my external usb hard disk takes forever to use.

 

I waited 9 minutes untill my computer can access to my external hard disk.

 

I bought the external hard disk in 2007.

I checked my Hard disk on my older computer with win 98 installed. Same thing.

 

My newest computer was bought in 2009.

 

My hard disk does not seen to lose any datas that's a good sign.

 

I hope I can still use it many years again.

Have you run a disk check on it? If there are no bad or any signs of data loss you should be OK. Also try running a disk defrag on it.

I checked the usb hard disk. Few files are corrupted.

One problem I've seen with external drives is the connectors (power & USB). These get loose over time, causing data errors. If a scandisk doesn't improve things, I'd say get a replacement and copy everything to the new drive.
