Potentiometers

Now I know why they call them potentiometers The potential for stuff to go wrong. ;) Anyway, after suffering through a long time of playing with screwed up colors, I finally decided to do something about it. Opening up the 2600 took at least ten minutes. The slanted screws are very tricky to get out. Then when that was finally done, I opened the sucker up. I somehow managed to cut myself when the unit accidentally snapped back together. Anyway, I managed to put in a cart with the thing still opened. I twisted the potentiometer and turned it on. The greens were now purple. I turned it off and twisted it again. Same result. I twisted it yet again and what used to be dark greens were now a little bit lighter greens. Everything else looked good. The Harmony cart no longer had lines in the letters of the file names. I snapped the unit back together again, but didn't screw the screws back in in case something else goes wrong it will be easy to open. I just have to remember this in case I pick it up so the motherboard doesn't crash on the floor. The first CD I ever bought has a problem. Halfway through the last track, there was a tiny bit of info lost, enough to make the ripping stop at 50%. Luckily, I had it on another computer so I just burned it and put it on this computer. I didn't think it would have the complete info on the album, but WMP managed to copy the info as well as the tracks, which I was a little surprised to see. But it's sad that my CD I had so long is now not working as well. I guess I should have taken better care of it. So now there is a cut on my finger right where it touches the keys, but it doesn't hurt to type for some reason.
