Coins!
I added some coins in my Super Giuseppe game for the Odyssey2. The coin is character 2. Characters 0 and 1 make up the clouds. The Odyssey2 can display up to four sprites and 12 characters and 4(?) "quads" (groups of 2 characters) under normal circumstances. I'm also going to add a score when the game is almost done. It will be a four digit score taking up 2 quads, and then I'll use another quad to display one digit lives and one digit coin counter. The plan is then to have 10 coins equal a new life so the coin counter could only go up to 9 and then revert back to zero. I don't know what would happen if you got more than 9 lives, though. Hopefully nothing that will break the game! Had a hard time with it again. It was acting up on real hardware whenever I jumped or moved right. I fixed that now so everything seems to be ok on a real Odyssey2, though I wish I could say the same for O2EM, because this is what the game looks like on it:
On real hardware, the ground is level and not jutting out. OK, now I need to work on level 2 again (the swimming level.) I'll see if I can add coins to it. It should be easy, but with all these problems I keep having programming this thing, who knows? Oh, and my dentist visit was fine, no cavities or anything serious, but my mouth hurts from having it be open a lot while she worked on cleaning it. I attached the latest Giuseppe level 1 binary so you can play along, either on an emulator, or if you're lucky enough to have an Odyssey2 and a C7050, you can use that too.
