A big thank you to everyone who has been reading along this month. You can find the full list of the Top 30 Vertical Shooters for the Atari 2600 at the Wrap-Up Party. You can also check out the game I forgot!

I hope you had as much fun with this as I did!

I really enjoyed that series. Nicely done! I hope you'll do more rankings/reviews like that.

A sister list to consider would be ranking the Homebrew vertical shooters for the 2600, and noting where they might fall within the larger list.

A quick list (not sure this is all-inclusive):

2005 MiniGame MultiCart (Zirconium only)

Allia Quest

Backfire

Conquest of Mars

Inv+

Juno First

Lead

N.E.R.D.S

Phantom II/Pirate (Phantom II only)

Pleiades (unreleased protoype)

Rainbow Invaders

Space Battle

Space Instigators

Yes, great series. I learned about a few games I hadn't tried before. If you have time, adding links to the list would help, because a lot of links on the side up as "The Top 30 Vertical Shooters for the Atari 2600 #1...". The numbers are cut off.

If I ever make a homebrew vertical shooter, I will refer to this list for guidelines on what makes one fun or not fun.

Wabbit? Come on man, that game is dick. Absolutely no, or rather very little skill involved in it.

I'm starting to get into the habit of volunteering articles for hobbyist video game magazines. These reviews definitely set the bar for quality pretty high. I hope I can learn something from them.

Thank you again to all who followed along and enjoyed the ride. And thanks as always to Stan for never mincing words, but getting straight to the facts.

thanks theloon. I appreciate the compliment. My goal is to be informative and entertaining, and also play it straight, like my pal Stan up there.

I'm cooking up a few more lists that I'd like to do this year, we'll see what comes.

I'm thinking heavily about doing Activision or Parker Brothers, two powerhouse companies that produced for the VCS.

I LOVE H.E.R.O as well, but maybe not as much as you do. :P

Yes I can. I've maxed out the score! Was a proud day for me and some where back in time 9 year old StanJr pretty much had his mind blown.

Nowadays I like to play the variation with the random levels, but someone told me that it only picks certain levels, not selects from all of the levels. If that's true then, feh.

Hey Stan - just wanted to say thanks for this feature - I really enjoyed the countdown! Oh - and thanks to you I'm now addicted to Millipede, which admittedly before this blog I hadn't play all that much. Just got my newest high score today of 169,782.

Thanks again - looking forward to the next countdown!
