CDC 6500

In college I programmed a CDC mainframe in FORTRAN, Pascal, and Assembly. At first we had to use punched cards - what a step backward! Later we could use remote video terminals or dial-up. I met my future wife, Janet, while she was programming on the same system.

"Future wife" sounds so high-tech. Did she have one of those Jetsons-style beanie hats? ;)

 

Did you actually type on that CDC keyboard? If so, can you compare the typing feel? (looks like Micro Switch hall effect, but hard to tell for sure)
