Everything together. I had to cut one of the small plastic posts that supported the old rf circuit board. After that I used some layers of thick double sided tape to created a level surface for the power supply. The hdmi convertor piggy backs on top of the power supply with double sided tape. Everything is able to fit like this, although ideally I'd like to keep the 230V lines away from any of the other cables. I might make changes so this is possible. The audio wire is soldered to c88 on the bottom side of the motherboard. On to testing now!

The new 5V power supply. Much smaller than the power brick! The vga to hdmi converter requires 5V mini usb. It is connected here to the power supply as well.

The new power connector fits neatly over the old hole in the console. It needs two holes drilled and the clipping of the two plastic lips that held the other connector in place.

I sacrificed my VDP... I'm not really good at desoldering big IC's so I decided to order a new one on ebay (just like to have a back up at hand) and cut the legs of the VDP. Removed the legs, added some more solder to all the pads and with my solder sucker cleaned them all out. Looks pretty clean. Waiting for the 40 pin socket now...
