  1. "...and then this guy with the creepy smile shoves this hunk of plastic in my face and says uncola or something. That's when security tazed him to the ground and he wet himself." "The little light looked neat though."

  2. I've been lurking for years but finally decided to make an account, partly because of this thread. I just want to thank you all for the absolute goldmine of entertainment that this shitshow has provided. I can't wait for Atari's next milestone (which is, hopefully, showing Woz their half-baked prototype and someone recording his inevitably priceless reaction).

  3. It's a damn shame johnphelan1979 can't find some sort of device that already exists that can handle his 3 + too reasons for backing this system. Can't think of any device that can 1 play tons of Atari games 2 play tons of retro games 3 play youtube videos too play music on Spotify If anyone here can help him out that's also on that forum, please let him know.

  6. This thread is quite the riot . And it reminds me of what is so very different about AtariAge compared to a few other forums I participate in. Only here can someone talk about and display something they are proud of, to only have someone else tell them that: A) they wouldn't ever use such a thing even if their life counted on it, or B) they're only a fanboy of the Atari, and all other computers suck, or C) they think what you did has somehow devalued the Atari in their eyes, and lastly D) you should be ashamed of what you did. I could name over a dozen regulars on this forum that do one or more of the above on a regular basis. Sad thing is they believe it . Of course we are only human and as such are probably guilty of at least one of these transgressions from time to time (including me), but most of us are either smart enough and/or kind enough not to say it out loud . So here we have a topic that started off very positive, talking about the long anticipated and very much wanted announcement that another run of the most rare and desired item the Incognito, was going to see another production run. Now that's a good, or should I say a GREAT thing isn't it ??? And then without fail it slowly gets dragged down into the muck through a combination of certain people flaunting their god-like abilities, enlightening everyone with their superior intellect (I'm joking of course), or spewing out cruel remarks in general. BTW, Christmas is coming. Have you been naughty or nice this year? And yes, someday I too would love to have an original 800 with an Incognito installed. Plus I love blinky lights, always have . Opps did I just say all of this out loud? ? squeak, squeak, squeak (sound of erasure on chalk board, yeah I know old school). Hmm... not working. Aww forget it, just try to prove I wrote any of this! Hmm... apparently my name is in the signature. Drats damn computers don't forget!!! Leaving town........... Edit: Shuffle, shuffle... looking for disk with SkyNet virus .

  11. The only way to attend DesTechAZ is to purchase a sponsorship or corporate table. Sponsorships are limited. Please contact Merissa Rivera for details. Welp....that counts Fred out. A room at the Motel 6 down the street won't get him an audience with Woz.

  12. In a strange way, Vladr actually benefits from his posts being deleted. It allows him to play the victim; pretending he didn't instigate plenty himself. Over in the Lynx forum he threw plenty of shade in the Jaguar forum's direction. I know one of his posts got deleted, because I reported it. How I regret now ever doing so, because it should be on full display in its full naked glory; the Emperor's New Clothes, so-to-speak. Anyone walking into this thread and just see a bunch of meanies attacking a guy who wants to have fun with the Jaguar is missing the big picture and a lot of history. I think most of us even want to see these wondrous things. Like CJ once did, and perhaps still does: Vladr didn't stop sharing code--he never started. He may have shared some rough ideas. But when confronted by knowledgeable people that the finished product wouldn't work so well, he'd get angry ... and not prove anyone wrong. People were initially helpful toward him, but his giant ego got in the way every time. He claims he doesn't do all of this for the attention, but what happened after he posted that screenshot? Three hours later he was complaining he didn't get attention. Go figure. Nobody wants your code that doesn't exist for a game that doesn't exist. I truly hope you have a safe trip and you actually show at PRGE. Proving people wrong should be as simple as knocking out a 40-minute Outrun.

  13. It's been done a few times by people more articulate and obsessed than I. They each look rather fantastic when you image search "Atari 2600 Lego", though this one is undoubtedly the best, and they certainly make for interesting conversation pieces even if not functional.

  14. At least John found his shirt. I don't know why he thought that shirtless video was a good idea, but he did delete it, so I guess even he finally figured out it was a bad idea. Unlike with the VCS. On topic, I saw a taco shell commercial on TV the other day.

  15. I'm not certain what I want more at this point: 1)for the dumb box to never come out, and these guys keep a candle burning on the windowsill forever, waiting for it 2)for it to come out and be a massive disappointment, and these guys have to pretend it's a godsend 3)for it to come out, be a massive disappointment and the blinders finally come off Well, we may as well chuck number 3 in the bin.

  23. I don't think "improve" is the right word, you changed the rules after I posted it. There you go. However, until you actually sit and run it yourself, don't ask for more. I've documented this one a little further, but most of the comments are NOT in the code. I'm not sure there's enough RAM left for them... might be. Anyway...

  24. I took the 4x7" figure as a challenge. Here are my rough sketches for a 1MB SAMS on the JediMatt42 connector, which fit into 100x100mm for DIP, and 70x100mm for some surface mount. The logic chips are condensed into one ATF22LV10C. This uses my favorite parts. The 100x100mm is the magic figure for DirtyPCBs $2 per board. I know there are some things missing - I said it was rough. BOM - $25 using some SMD. 2 PCB 4 LS612 2 LVC245A x 4 10 AS6C4008 x 2 2 ATF22LV10C 2 2x20 Long Pin Female socket 1 PLCC-28 socket 2 misc == 25 Then I found some LS612 for under $1 too good to be true in PLCC44 - and thru-hole PLCC44 sockets are easy. So here is an iteration. 2 PCB 7 LS612FN ? 2 LVC245A x 4 10 AS6C4008 x 2 2 ATF22LV10C 2 2x20 Long Pin Female socket 1 PLCC-28 socket 1 PLCC-44 socket 2 misc == 29

  28. Remember this fun feature about what's in the bag Woz carries around? It's from 2012 but I suspect he's still packing a lot of tech. Not much use for "Atari VCS" in there, but if he added one to his collection at home, that shouldn't make Fred feel special. Just look at this ...

  34. Aww... I haven't been very active on AtariAge for a long while, but decided to browse today to catch up on things and found this thread. I'm very sad to hear about this. I always enjoyed conversing with DracIsBack. My condolences from one 7800 fan to another. Rest in Peace, Mark.

  37. That is the weakest cop-out ever. Seriously. It is the very definition of a self-reinforcing doubt. I can speak from 30 years of experience (my first contribution to free software was a patch to GNU Make in 1988), that there are many developers who learned quickly by reading other's code. The issue has been, for many years, that so much knowledge has been locked up, either in private source code repositories, or on the drives of developers who, when they're gone, that knowledge is gone, until rediscovered. It is something that drives me, because it is a completely avoidable problem. I will bend over backwards for those who share their time, energy, and knowledge; I conversely have NO patience, time, nor energy for those who talk a big game, but don't share anything whatsoever. -Thom

  40. You're forgetting about one thing, Kodi. The Alienware Alpha used a custom skin on Kodi to give it a console like experience on PC. All they need is Ubuntu to force start Kodi with a locked-in custom skin. https://www.howtogeek.com/67497/how-to-skin-your-xbmc-for-fame-glory-and-best-looking-media-browsing-around/

  43. As you know, I won't be there this year. ? ...but the podcast will, in the form of episode 37. I'm busy editing / producing it now. Shooting for a Friday afternoon release. We have a pre-PRGE segment, so it would really suck to have the episode come out after the expo. But if that DOES happen, let's collectively blame Rick Reynolds.
