  1. I would say that any Beagle Bros. game is a 10. Whether these are illegal pirate games is still speculation at this point. Whether or not people care about this type of release is one thing, rarity is another.

I'm finding myself more in agreement with Music Machine being a 9.

  2. I believe this is of unknown origin. We have a number of these we are about to add to our database, and we decided to create an Unknown category, with "Fantastic Game" as the subcategory. We will probably do away with "Taiwan 1" as well, and move those to "Unknown" with some type of consistent subcategory. To me, if there is no known company then it should be Unknown. Calling them Taiwan 1 or whatever is sort of arbitrary and inaccurate when listed among other companies. It does however serve a purpose in a descriptive category.

  3. I had both and enjoyed both. The Intellivision has some great games in its library, although I agree the controllers were not good. 2-player sports games were great, but IIRC most of them were 2-player only which is not so good. I had many heated sessions of Sea Battle, Auto Racing, and NASL Soccer with my friends. And don't forget the D&D games, and one of my all time favorites, Swords and Serpents. Smaller library, but high quality IMO. There were very few "junk" games in the Inty. Man, I even enjoyed Horse Racing (forgot about that one). Whip! Coax!

I think the frustration stems from people who don't want to abuse the system either out of fear of reprimand from eBay or simply because they don't think it's right. These people lose out simply because they're playing fair. I think they are allowed to be mad about that.

From the same page linked above:

If you've experienced any of these issues, please report offenses to the Investigations link below. Disciplinary action may result in the indefinite suspension of a user's account, temporary suspension, or a formal warning. eBay will consider the circumstances of an alleged offense and the user's trading records before taking action.

[*] Contacting a seller and offering to purchase the listed item outside of eBay."

Isn't this what we're talking about? Now I don't really care personally as I can't remember the last time I bought something on eBay, but I can understand why people are upset.

Could this be the Colecovision version as well?

Probably, eBay sellers are sometimes confused about what they have. Lady Bug was definitely not released for the 2600, that's a mistake on the Intellivision web site. I would agree with Pitfall Harry that they may have developed one, but we don't know. If there is a prototype out there, we don't know about it, but I wouldn't be shocked if one turned up.

Sorry, I don't know what it's worth because I've never seen one sold. The difference between Atlantis and Atlantis II is very subtle and you can only see it in the scoring method and scoring graphics, and the white sticker on the box.

  8. How does that work exactly?

I thought the Personal Offer feature was only for sellers to offer the item to a second bidder if the high bidder doesn't follow through.

Ending an auction early effectively reduces eBay's final value fees, so I'm not sure why they would want to do that. But I've never tried that so maybe it's just something I haven't encountered.

I guess Enthusiasm among collectors will just have to be on it's way out.

Come on now, that's not true. There may be some people upset with this particular situation but don't take that to mean that enthusiasm is dying.

As for eBay policy, I don't know how they would handle it if could show that you didn't ask them to sell outside of eBay. Certainly if you ask them to end it and relist with a BIN, I don't believe that would violate anything (nothing wrong with being aggressive). And while it is the seller who is defrauding eBay out of their fee (albeit a small fee), you would still be in violation according to their policy. I'm not trying to come down on you, just trying to clarify the situation for anyone who does this type of thing.

The only thing you could really do here is insist that they use the BIN feature, but I know that is asking a lot in the real world. If they insist on selling to you straight up, I just wouldn't post about it so that eBay has easy proof.

Everyone who has EVER found a good deal on an atari game, please leave, and retract anything you've said. Because that's all it was. Ever find a decent cart for $1 at a goowill, salvation army, ebay, friend, or flea market? Then I guess you ripped them off and you are also considered slime.

I'm not going to get into the whole morality issue here (if there even is one), but this is not really the same thing. There is no policy being violated when you make such a transaction in a thrift store or flea market.

You might want to be aware that your actions (as I understand) are a violation of the eBay user agreement (circumventing the eBay fee structure). If anyone does get upset enough and report you, eBay can suspend your account if they choose. So, in the future, you might want to keep this kind of thing to yourself.

  11. Tom Boy is PAL and is listed as such.

Brazil uses PAL-M, although it's not clear whether their Atari games were programmed for NTSC or PAL-M, as they are nearly identical except for the color pallette. In any event, Spider Fighter should play fine on an NTSC TV, Tom Boy might play or it might roll.

  12. Chris,

Actually, we do list both of these games. You need to select "All" under the Region criteria in the search tool in order to see them. As Rick said, CCE is Brazilian and Rainbow Vision is Australian, so you won't see them if you use the default settings in the search (North America only).

CCE and Rainbow Vision are two of the more interesting non-US companies, so I think those are "neat" cartridges and worth keeping.

  13. Thanks guys. King Author had already been marked for removal based on another thread, we just haven't gotten to it yet.

So Basis-Angriff and Sternen Kampf are unknown pirate games?

So according to your list, we are missing these titles:

    Motocross SS-022

    Mole Hunter SS-023

    Ski Run SS-024

    Asteroid Belt SS-029

    UFO Patrol SS-031

    Walker SS-032

    I.Q. Memory Teaser SS-033

    Panda Rescue SS-035

    Criminal Persuit SS-036

Do you have these Marco, or does anyone have pictures to confirm them?

We will update the list accordingly. Thanks!

  14. Yes, they may have come from the same company originally, I'm more curious about the packaging/box. I've seen the Hot Shot boxes, and it seems like they should be separate entries.

I've seen carts with Goliath labels - did they come in Goliath boxes? I don't recall seeing a Goliath box. I also saw Marco's post about the UK list, that those Goliath games are actually Hot Shot. So I'm still confused.

I saw your Pet Boat carts - freaky! We have a few other "Fantastic Game" carts to add - I've seen that on the box and cart as well. We are leaning towards using an "Unknown" category, and indicating "Fantastic Game" in the label column to distinguish them. So maybe the Pet Boat carts should go in there too, since they are probably the same source given the box.

  15. I've seen Game Reset, but it doesn't clearly state which games are Goliath and which are Hot Shot. Maybe Jens can clear it up for me.

I'm just not sure about some of the carts that don't say Goliath on them. For example, what are the carts that look like Hot Shot, but have "Multi Video Systems" across them? It's like a Hot Shot cart with a Goliath diagonal band, but not the Goliath name.

And what type of box did the picture label carts with the diagonal band that says "Goliath Video System" come in?

  16. Ah yes, I remember those boxes now. So the question is, which are goliath and which are Hot Shot (unless anyone has a complete boxed collection)? Some of the Goliath carts are easily identifiable because they say Goliath, but what about the others? Do all the generic labels belong to Hot Shot?

  17. I would agree that the PS2 is the better choice right now. XBox has impressive hardware and I've seen some amazing graphics, but PS2 just has a better game library right now, and that's really all that matters in the end. That said, my gf and another friend have an XBox, and I've had a blast with Halo, FIFA, and Rally Sport Challenge (amazing graphics).

Another bonus with the PS2 is that they now have a greatest hits linupe at $20, so you can pick up some great cheap titles. Hmmm, may need to go buy a PS2 now...

  18. We have a number of unknown titles that need to be added to the database. We've been discussing how to categorize them - for example, should we group them all in a single "Unknown" category? Or give them descriptive titles for similar games like we did for "Taiwan 1"? Or should we have multiple "Unknown" categories grouping them by style ("Unknown 1", "Unknown 2", etc)? What do you all think?
