That's quite a nice find you have there, what titles did you get? We only know of three, you can find them here. And when I say three, I don't just mean three titles, I mean three carts. These are pretty rare beasts. Unfortunately I don't know much more about them - I corresponded with a few ex-BB employees, and they didn't know anything about them. If you have anything that is not listed, we'd love a scan.

The overseas leagues do produce some great talent (Park, Nomo, Suzuki, a few others), but as a whole, our game of baseball is the best in the world. I'd love to see our Rangers take batting practice in those tiny parks overseas. Even as bad as our pitching tends to be, we'd still win games 30-28. So I definitely think it's OK to say if your team can win the MLB World Series, you ARE the world champion. First of all, Baseball, American Football (especially), and Hockey are simply not world-popular sports. And our league champions don't play champions from other world leagues. So calling them world champions is just silly - they don't play anyone outside North America. Who knows if they really are the best team in the world? Baseball and Hockey at least have the potential to play other world leagues, but American Football is just not seriously played anywhere else. European Football on the other hand, is played almost everywhere in the world. And there are world competitions like the World Cup and the Champions League that decide true World Champions. Calling the Superbowl winners "World Champions" is no sillier than calling them "Galaxy Champions" - nobody else really plays. And until Baseball and Hockey play other league winners, the same goes for them.

I think we should have a poll for this, yes? I won't state my preference at this time.

I saw them play here in '94, they were fantastic and deserved to win (I think they lost to Brazil?). Mmmmm...Total Footaball....What happened to them in qualifying anyway? I didn't get to follow it too much this time around, and coverage in the US is spotty at best. From what I saw of England though, you guys look pretty good. -

Quick Football story for you. Back in the 80's I was in England with my family, and we were in Swindon at one point as my dad was looking for some chapel of historical significance. We were somewhat lost and stopped a young guy on the street and asked for help. He gave us directions, than noticed some Football item that we had in the car. He thought it was cool that I was American and I liked football, so he told us to wait there just a second. He ran off and soon returned with a Swindon Town FC jersey for me. Being around 15 and a huge football fan I thought that was one of the coolest things someone ever gave me, and I still have it. -
I lost the email of whoever sent in this scan. Also, what company made it? Tabra Informatica?

There is some collecting software called Cart Commander, you can find it here. Parts of it are even integrated with AtariAge to give you more information about a game. I do like the idea of determining rarity, although there is a potential for abuse of the system. Still it would be interesting to see.

Man, I remember that. England was not happy. But that wasn't in the Cup - the US has had some good wins, but they're ususally in friendlies with b-sqauds. Although I think that England defeat was in some sort of tournament. I wouldn't say that women's soccer is huge here. Relatively speaking, the women's team received more attention the last couple of years, but that's because America loves a winner. American's don't want to watch highlights of the US getting trounced 6-0 by Portugal or some such thing, especially when it's that damn commie sport. But yes, more people here know Mia Hamm than Claudio Reyna. Soccer is a big participator sport in the US, but we still don't have the college and professional infrastructure required for international success. Therefore we don't have the fan base, not to mention that I doubt the current generation of Joe 6-pack will ever understand soccer. It's going to take another 20-30 years at least to change that. Many colleges don't even have NCAA men's soccer teams becuase of stupid rules that require equal men's/women's sports. If they add men's soccer, they have to add another women's sport which will likely lose lots of money every year. I played soccer at the University of Texas and our Women's team was NCAA and the men's was not, for that very reason. Blah. -

Marco's just bitter because Holland didn't qualify this Cup. And the US qualified, so the US is better than Holland, right? I just want to see the US win a Cup game, any game. Last Cup was not pretty. But with two group winners and a host team in our group, it's not looking good. Being a soccer fan in the US sucks eggs. -
http://www.gamereset.de/clonespy.htmGameReset has made available CloneSpy, a ROM checking tool that will allow you to compare your ROMs and return a number of results. While this software was originally written by Thomas Jentzsch in 2000, it wasn't widely known and has been unavailable for some time. What will CloneSpy tell you? [*]Which original ROM was used for a clone/hack? [*]Where has code been reused for different games? [*]How big are the differences between PAL and NTSC versions? [*]How different are multiple versions of the same game? [*]Are all suspected clone games really clones? [*]Does an oversized dump also contain another ROM? Visit the CloneSpy page at GameReset for more information and download CloneSpy for yourself.

I don't know why they did this. I changed the link to http://www.atariclassic.com which is really Oshea's old site. They're still selling all the same stuff, but I guess they won't have an Atari dedicated web site any more. [ 01-29-2002: Message edited by: Alex ] -
Hey Christian, Get well soon, I hope we see you back on these pages before too long!

Why do some say Polyvox and some don't? We probably need a Brazilian to answer that. But I think all the silver labels in that style with Portugese on them are probably Polyvox. Matty, can we steal your images for AtariAge?

Interesting stuff. According to a letter from Commavid, sales of Magicard were at least 500, and a second run was planned for a total of 700 more Magicard and Video Life cartridges. They didn't say how many of each. So either they were really overstating their numbers, or the person you talked to might be confused. I'm guessing your source was one of the original Commavid guys, but I suppose he could be wrong. I'm curious, how many copies of Air Raid are known? I know of two, Ben Valdes and T.R.. Who else has one?

I've talked to the owner, and the cart does not work. He took it to a NAVA meeting and they couldn't get anything out of it. He suspects it might be a hoax by another collector (like Pitfall III), but nobody has fessed up.

Matthias, Good point. We have moved this alternate label up to 5. I'm not ready to say that it's as rare as Waterworld, but it isn't easy to find. Part of the problem is that it might appear in many auctions that you don't know about, because the seller doesn't mention the variation. We'll keep an eye on it though.

http://www.jagulator.com/RealityMan has announced that the next version of Jagulator will come in two releases: Gamer and Developer. The Gamer release will be optimized for usability, and the Developer version will contain an optimised emulator and a full debugger. You can read more details and see a screenshot of the Developer release of version 1.60, set to be released soon, at the Jagulator web site. Thanks to Belgarath for the news.

I was not aware of a MissionX prototype either. The MNetwork page doesn't say that it was not programmed, just that the game was cancelled. The curious thing is that this has an INTV style label. Does anyone have an MNetwork/INTV protos to compare it to? I'll let you know if I find out anything more.

Marco, please do, I'd love to get more info. As for Air Raid, there is only one box in existence that I know of (of course there could be more), and even that info is unconfirmed. And I only know a handful of people that own the cart. I've only seen it for sale once, and I'm not even sure that was legitimate. Pretty rare.

That's the most I've ever heard about it. I've left it off such lists, because we've never seen it. If it exists, someone should be able to provide screenshots/photos. If you know more, please enlighten us.

Alex replied to Noble Kale's topic in Rarity Guide
HES published many Activision/Imagic/Epyx titles. Also, Activision published some Imagic titles late in the game (including Demon Attack). So I'm not sure who HES actually licensed this from, but it's one of many titles for which they had this arrangement. It's not listed because we don't have a picture, so if you can scan it in, we'd love to add it to the database. -
Okay, I figured you had asked him. So is this a reliable person, or might this be a mythicaly box that he doesn't actually have? Hopefully we'll know one day...
-
Marco, Assuming they're not around, can you send them to us if you get them dumped. We'll put them online along with some screenshots. Everyone: About Zellers, Quelle, etc. Currently, we've listed Zellers games as only the games that were sold by Zellers (proven by the box), and not all Zellers style games. When you guys say Zellers, are you talking actual store games, or just that style? As for SS - we list these games as Quelle. Again, we know this is not a developer or publisher, but a store like Zellers. But as the various theories have mentioned, there doesn't seem to be an official publisher of these games, so Quelle seems to be a good way to list them. And I remember reading that bit about Star Soft, amazing how that name got repeated when it apparently didn't even exist. Great research by all you guys. Anyway, do agree with listing them by Quelle, or should we say Suntek, or what?

A boxed Air Raid?? You're killing me Ben! Does this person not want to scan it, simply not gotten around to it, or what? Can you ask him to scan it? Please tell me more, that's probably my #1 wanted scan right now.
