Ben has already given us permission to include his mod on the site. I haven't included it yet, because I've heard some people were having problems with it, but we should probably include it anyway since it's better than what we have. Anyway, I'm still looking for the "ultimate" A/V mod guide (clear directions, nice board pics, etc, beginner terminology, etc). Surely someone who is technically inclined would be interested in doing this? Or is Chris Wilkson's info available online somewhere? [ 01-20-2002: Message edited by: Alex ]

Personally I like to see bits of information as the game progresses. And I would guess that the feedback tends to keep the developer interested in the project. As for SCSIcide, you can read about the limited edition here.

I've got a CCE ROM that looks like Alien. Did CCE release a version of Alien, and did they call it that or something else?
-
You can check out this poll of some of the most popular games from visitors to this site. Tempest 2000 was the clear winner, followed by Alien vs. Predator, then Doom and Wolfenstein.

Yep, the NTSC Asterix ROM is already on the site. This came up about a month ago and we got it from Cav. Obelix and Moto I just finally got around to checking with z26 after someone emailed me about it. Also the K-Tel Spider Maze we have appears to be PAL. It also has the Funvision logo at the bottom of the screen. Is this Funvision's Spider Monster? I believe it's the same game, but does the K-Tel version have that logo? I don't know who made it first, and I don't have the actual cartridge to check. But this may be another one we need to fix.

I don't know if it's been dumped or not, I just know that the only one I have is PAL. Is there going to be anyone at PhillyClassic with a dumper? And I'm not sure what you meant in that post, but we do already have the NTSC Asterix ROM. As for Motorodeo, I did a quick check on DP's site and didn't see it, so if you have it I'd love to get a copy.

I was looking through some of our ROMs, and these appear to be PAL on our site: Motorodeo Obelix Spider Maze (K-Tel) Anybody have NTSC versions?

It's hard to say. It's very difficult to track copyright rarity - most people don't care that much, and you can't really use eBay as a tool because people generally don't report the copyright date. You'd have to have people take the time to go through their collections, compile the data, and submit it.
-
It's yet another slight variation. It may or may not be rare. We are going to be moving those minor variations out of the main database because it's misleading. They will probably be moved to the games profile page so the information is still there somewhere.

You can play Space Shuttle with a 4-switch: Space Shuttle Overlays

What are you guys trying to say? Does anyone have any poll suggestions they'd like to see?

http://www.atariage.com/software_page.html...wareLabelID=827We've just posted a new ROM for Miss Piggy's Wedding - John Hardie sent us a more complete version than we previously had. You may have seen these screenshots on AtariHQ before, although we're not sure if the ROM has ever been available until now. There still isn't any real gameplay, but there are some additional graphic elements.

It's probably a custom made cart, which is why it isn't in the rarity guide, although it could be something we're missing. As to what it's worth, Sean Kelly makes multi-carts, so you might want to see how much he charges to get an idea. This may be where this cart came from in the first place.
-
Easy, yes. But we're going to go with a more customized chat. We'd like to avoid third party solutions for various reasons. Wait and see, I think you'll like the end result.
-
We haven't decided for sure yet. Personally, I think it will be more meaningfull if we have scheduled chats with archived transcripts. We will probably start out that way and see how it goes. If people decide they want it open all the time, we can certainly change it. So many features to add, so little time...

Yes, it's still in the plans but it's been on the backburner because of some other projects.

It hasn't been released yet, and I'm not sure what the status of it is right now. Hopefully we'll see it sometime this year. All I've ever seen was that screenshot in NextGen.

My girlfriend got an XBox for Christmas, along with Halo and DOA3. Halo is great, I've already played through it once and it's the first game I've lost sleep over in a while. DOA3 is equally impressive if you like fighting games (not really at the top of my list). All in all, I'd say the XBox has quite an impressive launch lineup. I'm not convinced that it will be successful in the long term, fighting Sony and Nintendo will be a difficult battle. If I had to buy a system today I would buy a PS2 because of the game library, but all three are very impressive.

If you get permission from the copyright owners, there is no reason why you can't do this. Hozer, Best Electronics, and CGE already do this without getting permission and nothing has happened so far. Indicating that they are copies on the label would be very nice, as that has caused confusion in the past, and not doing so would probably anger some people. Personally, I would want to get permission if I was actually selling something at a profit. I'm very curious to hear the reactions of the companies you approach (amused? surprised? greedy?). Best of luck.

Yes, it is a scan from a magazine. I believe the original photo was taken of a proto box at the '83 CES. There weren't any other boxes in the pic that I know of.

Incorrect date in message boards banner
Alex replied to The Night Phantom's topic in Site and Forum Feedback
Interesting, that's a quirk I didn't know about. When I tested that out (the system clock issue), I wonder if my browser thought a new session was enabled when the system clock changed, and thus the date changed. At least in IE6, the date will change dynamically by adjusting your clock and refreshing your browser. When we move to a PHP script, that won't be an issue anymore, but that's good to know. -
Incorrect date in message boards banner
Alex replied to The Night Phantom's topic in Site and Forum Feedback
Your system clock is probably set wrong. The message boards are run as cgi scripts and use javascript for the date (that grabs it from your system). The rest of the site uses PHP to grab the date from the server, which is why that looks okay. Check your clock and see if that fixes it. -
Cabbage Patch Kids: No confirmation. I understand the original programmer has/had a copy. Does it still exist? I don't know. Has anyone seen it recently? I don't know. Is there screenshot or ROM availabable? No. Nobody has proven this one to us. GLCB: I don't know the owner of this one. However, I don't know that the owner doesn't want it released, so we might see this one one day. Pink Panther: Same as GLCB. Funky Fish, Pleiades: I know the owner of these two. Doesn't want to dump them. We'll only see them if he sells. Impossible Game: I don't know that this exists. Certainly hasn't been proven to us. Rush Hour: Same as Impossible Game. If anyone has any more details, we'd love to hear them.
