  1. One other thing - do most Europeans refer to these by their German name or English name? i.e. "Bobby Geht Heim" or "Bobby is Going Home". The cart labels and manuals are bi-lingual, but the boxes are German only. I think listing them by the German name would be more accurate, but what is the standard?
  2. Is there any tool to test whether a ROM is PAL or NTSC? I have some pirate carts that I'm not sure about, and my TV plays most PAL games ok so that doesn't help.
  3. Yes, this is one of the reasons I want to post the ROM and screenshots, because this has been a contested issue. Several reliable people have claimed to own it. I bought mine from Video61 years ago new in the box. He's a US dealer, and he didn't have any PAL stuff back then, so maybe mine is NTSC (need to dig it out of storage). Supposedly, the ground looks pinkish on a PAL cart on an NTSC TV, and brown on an NTSC cart.
  4. We just added the missing entry for NTSC Ikari Warriors, anyone have the ROM for this? It should be different from the PAL ROM which we already have.
  5. All the major browsers are free (Opera has a paid version to remove the ad banner), including NN6.2. Just go to www.download.com and search for Navigator 6.2, Mozilla, Opera, or whatever.
  6. I'm not sure what that is, it's possible that it's a 6.0 problem. Sometimes using IE I've seen images that don't render properly, appearing cropped. They're fine after I refresh, so I'm guessing that's a browser rendering issue. Not sure if I've seen that in Mozilla/Navigator6.2 or Opera though. If at all possible, I'd recommend an upgrade to 6.2. I can't remember if their's some reason you said you can't do that. I remember when 6.0 first came out, it was considered so buggy that we were told not to even try to code for it, assuming that nobody would use it or it would quickly be upgraded (I was at 3M at the time). It caused all kinds of Javasrcript nightmares, among other things. I remember people complaining that they couldn't uninstall it once it was on their machine!
  7. An updated John Sands entry along with Exoset Missile can be found here.
  8. We're listing some new stuff tonight, and we're not sure how to list these. The Bit Corp games that we recently auctioned: Auction with pictures From doing a bit of research, I've gathered that these titles were originally released by Bit Corp. But these particular games may have been released later by Telegames, with unique labels and manuals. Do you European collectors consider them to be Telegames, or Bit Corp (Telegames version), or what?
  9. Okay, I changed another bit of code, maybe that did it. I can't see it in 6.2 though, so I can't be sure. Let me know if you are still seeeing Steve (or any other unwanted friends), and I'll have another look at it. And thanks for pointing it out, we really do appreciate it.
  10. I'm not sure I want to splinter the 2600 board any more, for the reasons given above. A decent portion of the threads would really be more appropriate in other forums, but people want maximum exposure and feel they will get it in the 2600 forum, right or wrong. I think that a "times viewed" counter would be a step in the right direction. I've considered moving posts to other forums, but we try to avoid too much moderation unless it's absolutely necessary. But for now, I think adding more forums would just complicate matters - you'd still want to follow all the posts, but you'd have to do it in multiple sub-forums. I'm not sure how helpful that would be in regard to threads becoming buried.
  11. James Bond 007 is very hard to find boxed. If you just want to play the game, I'd wait for a loose cartridge, as you'll end up paying a premium for this one. A loose cart will probably only cost you around $15-$20. I haven't seen many boxed copies for sale, much less shrink-wrapped.
  12. I just did that for fun, to give you a custom avatar. You can change it back to He-Man in your profile if you want.
  13. Are you using 6.2? 6.0 was a buggy piece of crap that was DOA when it shipped. 6.1 addressed a number of issues and was a step in the right direction. 6.2 is finally a good browser, although I haven't used it enough yet to find whatever quirks it may have. There is also Mozilla, which is what Navigator uses for its core, and it's generally more compliant although without some bells and whistles. Have you seen the gap again since I changed the code?
  14. I changed the code in the header a bit. Although I've never seen it so I'm only guessing, it might fix what you were seeing. I'm also guessing you're using a 4.x versions of Navigator, if so I would recommend upgrading to 6.2. It's quite nice, and finally puts many of the 4.x quirks to bed.
  15. quote: Originally posted by Thomas Jentzsch: Okay, he is now a small 2K Avatar.
  16. We like to keep them under 3K. In general, the smaller the better. Pitfall Harry did a nice job optimizing the Pong Avatar.
  17. quote: Originally posted by Tempest: Pizza Chef does indeed exist (well, not by Zimag). CCE reelased it in Brazil, same with Immies and Aggies. Tempest What's the story with those anyway? Did CCE actually get the ROMs from Zimag?
  18. This is an old post that was intended to get a reaction, and the author is no longer hanging out on these boards. I'm closing this topic now.
  19. Mitchell, That is definitely a high priority. We just started adding international games which is why so many are missing. I expect that section to be updated heavily starting in a couple weeks. One thing we would really like to do though is only add games that we can verify visually. You don't have to actually send in a scan (although that would be ideal of course), but at least point us to a picture of some kind (it can be a lo-res digital photo of 10 carts or whatever, as long as we can see them). This will keep the list accurate and eliminate the "are you sure that really exists" type questions. Thanks!
  20. Can you give us a nice scan?
  21. McDonald's, Mr. Bill, and Pizza Chef do not exist that we know of. I've heard rumors of the first two, but only rumors. Charlie Brown and Pink Panther have not been dumped to my knowledge. At the very least, they have not been made available publicly anywhere. Rocky and Bullwinkle has probably been dumped by Intellivision Productions (just speculation there), but it is not available publicly. In any event, you're probably not going to find any of those ROMs. If you do, please let us know as there will be thousands of happy gamers.
  22. That's correct, you can choose "All" in the "Items Per Page" menu and it will load the entire guide into one 'page'. It'll probably take a while to load, but then you will be able to save or print, but it won't be ideal. What I think we will do is make a printer freindly version that loads everything into one page with a fixed width that will print without cropping, and also without wasting space on the left hand side (no navigation). That's something we meant to do before but it got lost on the shuffle somewhere.
  23. Guys, I really don't think we need to bring back 6-month old flames. I'm closing this one.
  24. John if you read this board.... Please email me. The email address attached to your eBay account bounced back, and I can't access your web site. If anyone is in contact with John, please let him know I tried to email him about the auction. Thanks!
  25. The games in our database are almost one-of-a-kind to our knowledge. I did get an email from one person who had another copy of one of them, although which one escapes me now. Trivia note, one of them was found by our friend Smitty in Colorado (Boulder I think).
