Looking good! The screen is really coming together since last I looked at it. Keep posting updates, it's nice to follow your milestones.

I think it sounds incredible, and there's something for everyone. You can download the ROM and play it for free if you want, or you can buy a simple cartridge with a label and manual from Hozer for probably $15 or so, or you can get the extravagent collectors edition from Andrew. Great!

Hmmm, I guess he was a casualty of the reduced-file avatars. I'll get that fixed so that the blocky Harry is back, and the silhouette Harry is called Pitfall Harry 2.

It will surely be working soon in other emulators, and natively in z26. The emu authors just need a little time with the ROM to get the emu working with it. I'm sure we'll at least be posting about a new release of z26 in the next few days... When it's fully supported, you'll hear about it.

I haven't heard anything yet. I sent an email to Jon Legg this morning but haven't heard back yet. I'm sure we'll see it this week, if they did indeed release it without a hitch. It will be posted to the main page when (or someone else) has it.

I don't think the record came with the video game because if I remember correctly, there was a coupon for the record in the video game box. There's also a Music Machine paperback book if anyone's interested. Ironically, I've found the book, record, loose cart, and boxed cart with instructions in 4 separate locations in the wild! Wow, that would be awesome! I've only seen one Pepsi Invaders box, and never seen a Music Machine box. I'm really looking forward to these scans. Can you tell me more about the book? I'm guessing this was a totally seperate item and didn't come with the game? Even so, I'd still love to get scans of the front and back cover of the book. A scan of the record coupon would be fantastic too, and would maybe help settle the issue of how it was packaged.

Thanks, I'll get it fixed. Last time I checked his site I couldn't get in at all which is why that part wasn't updated.

Albert and I were just talking about this, and it is something we're going to do. We're not exactly sure of the details yet (how often, how long, etc), but it will probably be a month before it happens. We're about to start the auctions and we have a few other things we need to do first, plus all the regular updates on the site. We'll also be looking at archiving the chat transcripts so they're available for reference. So it will happen, but probably not until the beginning of December.

You're right Twit. However, I just looked and it seems that John Earney's page is completely gone. I had emailed him a long time ago to ask permission to post that box, but I never got a response. He probably hasn't checked that account in a long time. Anyway, I understand it's a very flimsy "box", if you could call it that. Magicard never had a box though. And Music Machine, I don't know. Nobody has been able to determine how that was packaged, and no box has ever been found that I know of. I had a few people tell me that they bought it new when it came out, and that it included the record, but that has never been proven. The instruction manual does mention the record in the copyright notice, but doesn't specifically say that it came with the game or that it should be used with the game. Hopefully we'll find a box one day...

Wow, sounds cool! I've seen personal cartridge selectors and Atari/Imagic units, but I don't think I've seen a Parker Bros. POP cartridge unit before. If you can post or send us a picture it might help us find out more about it. If you don't have a place to post it and you want to send in a picture, send it to

Make sure it comes with a power supply if you buy one, because they're proprietary and you can't just get a replacement at Radio Shack. You can build your own if your handy with a soldering iron though. Loose 7800 power supplies run about $20 by themselves.

Whenever I've looked at it, EGM seems to be geared towards the young teen crowd. It's very immature. That crowd tends to mock anything that isn't the latest trend, so it's no surprise. Try Next Gen, it's a much more mature magazine, and they actually respect the classics.

[img' target='_blank'>/images/news/GalaxianHack.gif[/img]In the spirit of the recent Return of Mario Bros. mod, we bring you Jess Ragan's Galaxian mod. Jess tweaked the graphics of the original 2600 Galaxian so that it would look more like the

It's PAL only, and we do not include most PAL games at this time.

In case you didn't see it, we added a new poll to the front page about including hacks in the database. A "hack" is an existing game that has been graphically altered by modern programming. For example, Megamania was hacked by someone to show graphics from Mystery Science Theatre 3K. And recently, Mario Bros was hacked be a more accurate port of the arcade game. Should we include these in the database? They could be turned off by default, unless you went to the advanced search page and selected them. Some of the hacks are pretty cool and I think they should be archived somewhere, while some are very minimal in their change. Tell us what you think, and vote in the poll if you would like your opinion heard.

GameReset is a good place to start if you haven't been. Other than that, I don't know of a Brazilian-specific site.

We've discussed it before, and it would certainly be easy enough to set up a slick Java chat client. What made us hesitant before is that the message board archive is very useful, but if we limited the chat times like you suggest perhaps we could just archive a transcript of the chat. Something for us to think about, thanks.

Ze_ro, Thanks for your comments. This was something Albert and I discussed before launching the Jaguar rarity guide, read this thread for more about whay we did it this way. FWIW, I do have another more traditional rarity guide for the Jaguar that I've based primarily on Ebay trackings I've made for some time now. In its current form, it's more of an Internet rarity guide (the titles you mentioned are readily available), rather than a "real world" guide. What do you think, should we disregard online retailers? We didn't get much response to this before, anyone else care to comment?

Thanks and happy hunting, Tony It's been on just about every game list for *years*, but as we started scanning in every game that we have listed, it became apparent that nobody has this. Some people swear they've seen it, but nobody can prove it. I'll believe it when I see it, it could just be a typo that became truth through repetition. Then again, maybe it's just *that* rare.

Thanks, although we already have a scan of it here. Now, if anyone has the infamous (fictional?) "Ploe Position", we'll post it.

Game idea: Donkey Kong 2, the other two levels
Alex replied to Jack-Ass Tramiel's topic in Atari 2600
I think the first step would be to make the first two levels look better. Then make a third and fourth level if possible. If that isn't a game that screams out "redesign", I don't know what does. -
Neither Albert nor I have a KidVid, so we can't take screen shots with a capture card. They don't run in emu's because you need the KidVid, so we can't take emu screen caps.

P.S. We were just sent a Glib manual scan, so definitely don't touch that shrinkwrap.
