I'm finding lots of individual issues of Antic autioned on Ebay, but the prices (mostly BuyItNow only) are a bit hard to fathom.

Thanks for the info. Is the Paypal "Request Money" function the way to do that? PayPal would still work. You just have the purchaser initiate a PayPal payment to your PayPal account. I have paid for items many times that way.

I agree that he has a lot of good stuff there. I'm thinking of selling a 130XE with a hard drive and a joystick or two on Ebay. I've seen a few successful Ebay sellers with small packages rather than listing all the individual pieces separately. I have other peripherals and software, but I'm thinking keep the package on the small side so more folks could bid on it.

I tried my 410, and it doesn't work. I'm busy with an upcoming move, but when I have time I will open it up and see if I can figure out the problem. Right now I suspect the motor or power supply. I will get back with anything I find out.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm using Paypal on Ebay, but how would payment work for selling in "Marketplace?" Check or money order would be fine though slower. I'm just wondering if there is some other mechanism.

ANTIC Oct 1983 vol 2 no 7 to April 1989 vol 7 no 12. ANALOG April-May 1983 issue 11 to Nov 1989 issue 78. The last year of both mags has some gaps, and I have not verified yet that the other years are complete. I'll check that tonight if I have time.

I tracked that one because I have a 130XE I'm going to post on Ebay and wanted an idea of where to start and what to include. There hasn't been a bid on his XL system. I think he would have done better with a low starting price. I would like to sell my 800xls without accessories for $75-110. He must have seen the 130xe with MyIDE that sold last week and thought he could cash in with his stock system.

I have a fairly big collection of Antic and Analog magazines along with the flppy disks that came with them. I'm new to selling on Ebay, and I could use some help in figuring out the best strategy for selling them. Considering the Antic collection for example, is it better to offer the entire collection, or is it better to break it up into smaller chunks-- maybe divided into separate offerings of issues published during single years. For simplicity, I'd rather offer the entire set of Antic magazines, one Ebay auction and one shipment, but I'm wondering if that might be too much for anyone looking for just a few issues to complete their collection. There might not be many people looking for a big collection. But offering single issues doesn't seem at all practical. So the compromise is some smaller grouping. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I assume the 8-bit cartridges are compatible with both NTSC and PAL because the TV circuit should take care of the difference. But then again maybe the display lists would have to differ. I'm just wondering if you know they are compatible for certain?

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I will test all the equipment before I try to sell it. It has been on the shelf for years. I have much of the original documentation but almost no original boxes. Gunstar, I was thinking of selling computers and disk drives separate. But from what you said, it sounds like it is a good idea to sell "sets" including a computer, disk drive, a joystick or two, documentation and some maybe software (at least a DOS boot disk anyway). I guess that would appeal to someone who was buying their first Atari 8-bit system. I have some game cartdriges and various programming-language cartridges but not a lot and probably nothing exotic. Does it make sense to sell those separate or in small groups? Maybe I'll sell the Antic and Analog magazines with floppies grouped by year, or is there some other sorting scheme that would make sense? I have a big collection, but it is far from complete. Is there any market for sx212 or 1030 modems, a PR connection, a 850 interface? It really does depend on what you have and it's working and cosmetic condition. While I'm sure it is possible to find a working 800XL on E-bay for $10, I recently sold an 800 computer, 810 disk drive, 410 recorder, keypad, all hook-ups and powerpacks and like 6 games&controllers for $160. Of course I completely refurbished/restored the whole system so it all was gauranteed and worked&looked almost like new. If it includes original packaging in good condition that can also increase the value greatly. Most likely that perverbial $10 800XL will be sold AS-IS and may or may not work, and may or may not have important items included like a power pack.

Well, it's a tape recorder/player at heart. I have one in the closet but haven't tried to use it in years. Sounds like it could be the motor, but also might be the circuit that controls the motor. I'd say take it apart and check that the button switches work and that all the moving parts move freely. Also look for loose connectors on the circuit board and signs of damage to the circuit board (e.g., anything burnt, broken, or loose). I'd put a meter on the power supply and check that the voltages are correct. You might be able to find a replacement for that if needed. A little resoldering might help restore aging connections if you are comfortable with that.

Do the Atari 8-bit computers go for about $10? I have a lot of Atari 8-bit equipment, including computers, disk drives, printers, lots of Atari books and documentation, game cartridges some with instruction booklets (no boxes), joysticks, power supplies, Antic and Analog magazines and floppies, etc. Is any of this worth anything? I haven't catalogued it all yet or signed up as an Ebay seller, but I'm thinking that if an Atari 8-bit computer is only worth $10, it might not be worth the trouble of selling on Ebay and packing it up for shipment.
