  1. First one. I find that it has just the right difficulty and feels best to play.
  2. Interesting. I've never played this. I get this game mixed up with Circus Caper.
  3. Unfortunately I can't play this game for long without it killing my hands. I'm using a DualShock 4 controller on PC. Game is super fun otherwise. I'm impressed by the scores.
  4. I don't even think to pause and come back later. It's not how I play. I don't really care if somebody else wants to.
  5. I'm probably done. This game legit hurts my hands to play for very long.
  6. Sloth? Would make a good anti Sonic mascot where it's all about taking it slow.
  7. Your game was probably freezing at the Grim Reaper stage. That's a known glitch in the earlier version of the game before it was fixed. The second loop gets pretty crazy with the Medusa heads. They're faster and appear much more often.
  8. I didn't know about bosses being harder in the second loop. Interesting. When I was a kid I always used triple boomerangs to beat Death but that was years ago and I don't even remember what my exact method was. But I used holy water on Frankenstein. Even with the holy water, you have to be quick with Death. If you're a little late then the scythes appear and now you actually have to fight him. I hate when that happens.
  9. It looks like the difficulty goes back to normal if you can survive the first four levels of the second loop. But Frankenstein's stage is so hard. I made it to Frankie, but unfortunately I lost the holy water and failed to beat him without it.
  10. Atari 2600 is better for fast action games. Intellivision has better graphics and can do games that are more complex.
  11. I believe that folks would have bought a Genesis for Sonic even if it wasn't packaged with it, so yes. It was graphically amazing for the time, and the character itself appealed to a lot of people.
  12. The difficulty increase is a real jolt as opposed to Contra where it takes a few loops for the difficulty to ramp that much.
  13. The second loop is a fuckin' nightmare! I might have nightmares about Medusa heads tonight.
  14. I beat Dracula and reached the second loop. Unfortunately I only had a couple lives left because I was really rusty and lost a bunch of lives to Dracula. I'd never played the second loop before and wasn't prepared for the difficulty spike.
  15. I reached the large bats right after Death's stage. I don't know their pattern very well.
  16. Bonk is no Sonic in terms of graphics, but it's a nice looking game with simple and easy gameplay that appeals to a more general audience than China Warrior and Legendary Axe. Bonk does have attractive colors which is one thing that TG16 excels at compared to the Genesis.
  17. Mario was a phenomenon at the time and helped revive console gaming in North America. The first SMB is also my favorite even today. I like the simplicity and straightforwardness compared to the sequels.
  18. China Warrior was the most technically impressive game at the time. It wouldn't have been a terrible pick, similar to Sega packaging the Genesis with Altered Beast. But it's the cute, kid friendly mascots that sell systems.
  19. The contest has been extended for another week anyway. You still have time to get a million points!
